Description:
The powerOne Finance Springboard module gives Handspring Visor owners a powerful calculator for computing financial and business equations. The software does an outstanding job of taking advantage of the Visor's strengths--namely its relatively large display, touch screen data entry, and data export capabilities. Infinity Softworks isn't kidding when claiming this module makes a Visor competitive with all the top standalone financial calculators. With more than 430 functions and nearly two dozen worksheets built into the module, there's little this calculator can't do. Best of all, the use of drop-down lists and embedded menus makes all these features easy to access without cluttering the display. For example, tapping the finance button displays a list with entries like Bond, Cash Flow, and Simple Interest, and tapping one of the entries opens the corresponding worksheet. The worksheets use a split-screen layout that displays monetary values on the top and equation variables on the bottom, letting you scroll through each list independently and keeping everything within view as adjustments are made. There are also many business worksheets for easily determining things like profit margins and breakeven points, along with a complete set of conversion tools that includes a currency converter. More than 40 scientific functions add even more value to the calculator, letting you tackle basic trig and statistics problems. Any equations you create and the output they generate can be copied and pasted into other Visor applications, or exported to your PC where they can be added to documents or printed. The calculator works so well that this really shouldn't matter, and the convenience of being able to store it without eating up any valuable memory offsets this disadvantage. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: - RPN (reverse Polish notation) or algebraic data entry
- The included worksheets are both useful and easy to work with
- It's a Springboard module, so it doesn't take up your Visor's memory
Cons: - Not easily upgraded
- Instruction manual doesn't provide many examples for novices but is otherwise very thorough
