Description:
Infinity Softworks' powerOne Graph Springboard module won't turn your Visor into the most advanced scientific graphing calculator on the planet, but you'd be hard pressed to find a product with similar functionality that is easier to use. The powerOne Graph really takes advantage of the Visor's touch screen and embedded menus to keep powerful functions within easy reach without unnecessarily cluttering up the display. That's a good thing, because the calculator gives you access to more than 230 functions in several categories, including trig, math, and Boolean logic. Instead of cramming the display with dozens of buttons, the developers made most features accessible via category buttons. Tapping the trig button, for example, displays a list with a dozen entries like sine, cosine, and tangent. Tapping an entry adds it to your equation. The included worksheets are similarly easy to operate, letting users choose variable types from a drop-down list before entering known values and then automatically solving unknown values. As the name implies, this calculator also offers up some powerful graphing features and can handle both function and parametric graphs. An equation wizard simplifies data entry, and everything is stored in memory so that viewing and editing equations is a snap. Once the graph is drawn you can draw a box around any area to zoom in--a feature no standalone calculator that we've tested can do. In fact, using the Visor's stylus to trace graph lines, enter data, and perform other tasks spoiled us so much that going back to a handheld calculator was virtually unthinkable. Considering the software version takes up less than 200 KB of memory, Visor owners with 8 MB of memory might choose to go with it instead. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: - Easy to install--just plug it in and it works without taking up any of the Visor's memory
- Visor's large touch screen simplifies viewing and working with graphs
- Worksheets are useful
Cons: - Can't be upgraded easily
- Can't be used simultaneously with other Springboard modules
