Summary: Should have known better
Review: After learning many opinions on this player, several of which were negative, I decided that I would go ahead and give this product a chance anyway. BIG MISTAKE! Basically, it flat out didn't work. From the very moment I tried it (and with various types of CD's) it would start up and leave a message on the LCD saying "no disc." It was highly frusterating and even the technical support line way inadequate at best. Generally speaking, I like Memorex products. However, this one could be used only as little more than an overpriced jewel case. Even my off-brand cheap one is more reliable.

Summary: Mine Stopped Reading CD's After About A Year And A Half
Review: After trying various fixes, new batteries, new CD, CD cleaner, I've come to the conclusion that my CD player is dead. I'm assuming it's the drive mechanism or the motor since it no longer makes a spin up sound or vibration.

Other than that this was an okay CD player. The volume was a little lower than other CD players I've had, making it hard to hear on the noisier parts of my daily train ride. I also thought the MP3 display / controls were a little difficult to use, but I've been spoiled by my computer's MP3 player I suppose.

Summary: poorly designed, not worth your money
Review: As noted in other reviews, this product has *very* limited battery life. It didn't come with an AC power source. It also has no hold button, which means I have to take out the batteries when I'm not listening. also, it often can't pause, fast forward or reverse on cd's I've burned myself. Its lid closes so poorly it only plays cd's if I can hold it flat or press the lid down -- definitely not for working out. Overall, a purchase I regret making.

Summary: Best Bang for the Buck.
Review: Find another MP3 CD Player for this price, and with a recognizable brand name on it. I did a ton of research prior to purchasing this player, and I just kept comming back to the price, feature for feature it is basically the same as models that cost alot more. Lets face it it is a PORTABLE player, every one that I have owned gets dropped, smashed, left, or stolen before I ever wear it out. Why not spend as little as possible and enjoy the product and not have to worry about loosing, or breaking it all the time. If it gets broken who cares, heck, buy 2 or 3 and have a back up player for the day when it gets broken, it happens to all of them eventually, yes even the expensive models. No I don't think a more expensive model is more durable.

I have had this model for quite some time now, I think about 6 months. I Skate with it, work out with it, bike with it, and yes it has taken a few tumbles and is scratched, and dented, but it still works, now if it were an expensive model when it crashed to the ground the first 20 times I would have been really upset, but at this price, I'll just get another one. ... I think I am going to buy another one just in case next time mine hits the pavement it gives up the ghost.

Summary: Not the best sound
Review: I bought this item when it was on sale. I didn't have real high expectations so I wasn't surprised. The MP3 sound quality is very good, but the standard CD sound lacks. There is some audible clipping. When I compare with a CD player I bought a couple of years ago ..., the cheaper player sounds better. Again though the MP3 sounds good so if that is your main purpose, then it is a good buy.

Summary: AWFUL! Broke after a week.
Review: I bought this off Amazon brand new, and after 1 week, when I put a disc in, nothing would happen when I pushed play or anything. I put brand new batteries in and still, nothing.

DO NOT BUY THIS JUST FOR THE PRICE! SPEND $20 MORE DOLLARS AND BUY A CD PLAYER THAT ACTUALLY WORKS!

Summary: Companies need to seriously improve on cd player technology
Review: I didn't get this brand, i got the MD6445 45 sec anti-shock with car kit...and i'm very sorry i did. I had the unit for 5 days and in the middle of a song it just stopped working! Since then, i keep getting a "no disc" error in the display. Believe me, i suspected the discs were the problem too, and checked them. They were NOT the problem. I did some checking on the internet and it seems that this is a very common problem with Memorex. As a matter of fact, it's a common problem with many, if not all, brands - even Sony! To make matters worse, i went on their website, and they didn't have a customer support link! I won't buy from Memorex again just for that. It's so unprofessional! My suggestion people - whichever brand you buy, keep your warranty and purchase receipts...something that i didn't think to do. You may get lucky and get a good unit, then again, you may be like me and many, many others who threw away a good 40 - 50 bucks - if not more!

Summary: A disappointment.
Review: I purchased the player on sale, and thought I found a great deal. However, after using the machine for a week or two of commuting I realized that I had made a mistake in choosing price over quality. I ended up replacing this player within a month of its purchase.

Some of the major problems:
Battery juice - Plays about 4-5 CDs before the "low battery" signal starts up, and then dies after the 7th or so. I hoped the player would be a bargain, but soon realized that the frequent battery replacements make this - ultimately - a costly purchase.

Burned disks - While it sometimes works, the play of burned CDs is sketchy at best. 50% of the time, burned CDs will skip. Futhermore, though I've tried with multiple programs and multiple computers, I have yet to succeed in playing a CD full of MP3s.

Minor problems (ones that are tolerable given the low price):
Sound quality - If outdoors or in a loud environment, it's fine. With little background noise, however, you can hear a whole lot of hiss in the sound, sort of like an old dubbed tape that has been played a few too many times.

Interface - Slow to respond to skipping. Also, some sort of equalizer is ever-present (and annoying), and even if having one is your sort of thing keep in mind that it doesn't seem to match up with the music AT ALL. (Battery-draining) eye candy, I guess.

Summary: I wish I had read more of these reviews before buying!
Review: I purchased this CD Player in the "Ice Purple" version, but since that was discontinued I decided to write about the blue one since they are exactly the same. The reviews on the purple version were actually pretty good that is why I decided to buy it! I am very disappointed in this product. The first one I had simply stopped working after a few weeks. Amazon was great and replaced it for me. Now a few months later, the replacement is not working properly. The anti-skip protection is very poor...it simply stops playing at the slightest bump and either jumps to another song, stops completely or resumes where it left off a few seconds later. It eats batteries very quickly and now, again, stops playing for no apparent reason. I don't think it's going to last much longer...what a waste of money!
