Review: Course Overview
This is the fourth course in a five part series. Students will learn the basics of using JASC Paint Shop Pro to create images for Web sites and Macromedia Flash to create animated Web sites. Subjects covered in this course include advanced Web design technologies, including JavaScript and DHTML.

Learn To

Identify how to create, convert, modify and enhance image files on a Web page by using Paint Shop Pro.
Create multimedia content for a Web page by using Flash drawing tools.
Identify the concepts of JavaScript and how to use JavaScript for Web development.
Identify the concepts and components of DHTML.
Identify how to create DHTML code.

Audience
The audience for this course includes End Users, Application Developers, Web authors, Marketing and Communications Professionals, PR Professionals, Webmasters, Graphic Designers, Technical Writers, and Library Scientists. Students will have completed either the CIW Foundations certification or the i-Net+ certification. Both of these certifications provide a foundational knowledge about Internet networking, servers and clients, design and development, security, and using the Internet for business. In addition, students should have taken the first 3 parts in this series (87021-87023). This course prepares candidates for exam number 1D0-420.

Unit 1: JASC Paint Shop Pro 2 hours

Create an image file by using the menu bar.
Convert an image file by using the menu bar.
Add text to an image file by using the Tool Palette.
Apply special effects to an image file by using the menu bar.
Decrease the color depth of an image file by using the menu bar.
Crop an image by using the Tool Palette.
Merge images to create a new image by using the Layer Palette.
Create a transparent image by using the menu bar.
Capture a screen to be used on a Web page by using the menu bar.
Create an animated image to be displayed on a Web page by using Animation Shop 2.

Unit 2: Macromedia Flash 2 hours

Match the features of Flash with their advantages.
Add shapes to the Flash stage by using the Drawing toolbar.
Change the color of the objects placed on a Flash stage by using the Drawing toolbar.
Match the types of frames with the situations in which they are used.
Add a layer to the timeline by using the Insert menu.
Publish a Flash movie by using the File menu.
Create symbols for a Flash movie library by using the Symbol Properties dialog box.
Add a default button from the Flash library to a Flash movie by using the Libraries menu.
Create a button to be used in a Flash movie by using the Instance Properties dialog box.
Import images to a movie library by using the File menu.
Add a directory to a Flash movie library.
Create a motion tween through a straight line by using the Frame Properties dialog box.
Create a motion tween through a path by using the Frame Properties dialog box.
Create a shape tween by using the Frame Properties dialog box.

Unit 3: JavaScript 1 - 2 hours

Identify the situations in which JavaScript will be used.
Match the types of Web design technologies with the situations in which they are used.
Identify the code used to embed JavaScript code in an HTML file.
Identify the JavaScript code for adding interactivity to a Web page.
Identify the JavaScript code to detect the browser type being used.
Identify the code for redirecting a user to a Web page on the basis of the browser.

Unit 4: DHTML 1 - 2 hours

Match the features of DHTML with the situations in which they can be used.
Identify the situations in which DOM can be used.
Match DHTML events with the situations in which they can be used.
Identify the correct DHTML code that runs in a specified browser for a specified set of requirements.
