Summary: It's good, but I don't know why
Review: This movie is great, and it gets better every time, but I don't know why. I guess you just keep noticing things that make it funnier or have it make more sense. Bill Pullman is funny as Daryl Zero; he starts off by saying that he is the greatest detective in the world. Ben Stiller plays his sidekick, and he has an "I don't care attitude" throughout the movie, which makes it that much funnier.

Summary: I watched it last night...
Review: and I keep thinking about it today! I'd never heard of it before seeing it on the video store shelf, and I'm glad I rented it. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie, although it got a little slow in one or two parts. Bill Pullman gave an excellent performance.

Summary: The Pullman Effect
Review: I have seen this movie a few times and it keeps getting better. The beginning is a little slow but once I got drawn in by the quirky Darryl Zero (played brilliantly by Bill Pullman) and his sidekick Steve Arlo (a great performance by Ben Stiller), I couldn't wait to see what happened next. This movie has a lot of funny lines, some suspense and a compelling love scene. I hope there is a sequel.

Summary: SO GOOD
Review: This movie was so good I bought it after seeing it on video. Pullman and Stiller are just adorable. It's got a little bit of everything: suspense, drama, comedy and-believe it or not-really touching romance. I loved it.

Summary: You can't be following someone if you're there first...
Review: This movie has good acting, a nice story, and is just plain fun. Anyone who likes Ben Stiller or Bill Pullman should see this movie...

Summary: Awesome Mystery with Sweet Love Story and Comedy!
Review: Zero Effect is a thoroughly enjoyable movie! I give it 4 stars since the DVD didn't have the expected "extra" features. This is one of the smartest mysteries I've seen. It's plot twists is reminiscient of L.A. Confidential. The comedy and love story also enhance the movie.

Summary: Clever plot undone by boring film
Review: This film is very popular with a lot of people, as you can see. They admire it's labyrinth plot and wry tone. Now, I like my humor both broad and subtle. But, "Zero" just struck me as precious and unfunny. The "clever" lines fell flat for me, sounding as if they were "written" by a screenwriter who felt he was hip and witty, rather than sounding like something characters would actually say. The plot is suitably complex and it's great to see both an atypically mousy ingenue (Kim Dickens) and a bloated Ryan O'Neal as the villan, but the deadening pace and lackluster direction undermines even these virtues. Bill Pullman never really appeals to me (he's undistinguished for my taste), and he's the whole damn show here. Ben Stiller can be great, but he looks as if he's sleepwalking through his nothing role. As some reviewers before and after me will state, I didn't "get" it, or the humor was too wry and subtle for me. Not the case. It just wasn't funny... it was sleep inducing. I also had the opportunity to read the script before seeing the film... it almost put me to sleep, too. I've attempted to screen the film for others to see if it's "just me" and they couldn't get through it either (and others who tried to read the script put it down after 30 pages, never to return). I admire Kasdan for trying a different genre in the midst of all the teen horror films and for attempting a more deliberately-paced film, but all it amounts to is an "A" for effort. If you want to see a "slower" film of quality, pick up P. T. ("Boogie Nights") Anderson's "Hard Eight." Subtle comedy? Try "Election" or David O. ("Three Kings") Russell's "Flirting With Disaster."

Summary: I'm buying this movie so I can see it again and again!
Review: This is a must see if you like mysteries even though this has a comedy touch to it. I laughed some, but I mostly just loved the plot. Zero is an ace detective, no the world's greatest, and it shows in the plot, but he is also very quirky! It's excellent! You must see this movie!

Summary: A clue
Review: While this is one of my favorite films of all, I'd like to simply point out something. There are only two dismal Amazon reviews right now, and I can tell you why they scored the film so low. One of them seems to be oblivious to the fact that the movie was a comedy. As for the other, the humour was aparently too subtle for his taste. It's like saying MacBeth was a terrible play because it's not funny enough, and that Shakespeare should go back to writing tradegies...

Summary: QUITE SUPERB
Review: I can only give this 4 stars because I came very close to turning it off after 10-15 mins. The beginning is very silly and strange but I am SOOO glad I kept with it b/c once the story starts rolling I really really enjoyed it. A wonderful involving story and you have to be on your toes to catch all the humor. Bill Pullman fits the role to a T.
