Summary: surprisingly entertaining
Review: this movie surprised me with its ability to actually hold my attention and care about the characters, something that is not easily done. while going through several sub-plots, it gives a variety of characters with problems that are easy to relate to and remind you of someone you know. The only problem is, there are quite a lot of characters, and some of them are hard to keep track of. nonetheless, it is a funny, interesting movie

Summary: DID ANYONE COUNT ALL THE CIGGARETTES?
Review: This movie was exactly what I expected it to be: fun, mildly humorous and entertaining, and not in the least bit profound! There were some very funny lines and I enjoyed the early eighties soundtrack, in a film that explores many young adult's desperate quest to find the "perfect" New Year's experience; (a quest ALL of us have pursued at one point or another, and will certainly be able to relate to)! The plot? Well, it involves many, many characters, all dressed as Madanna-wanna-be's, traipsing around New York, on New Years, 1980. One of the characters, (Martha Plimpton) is hosting a New Year's "bash" that no one seems to be coming to, and she is "freaking out" over the dip! No, this film would never win any awards. However, it is definitely an amusing (if a bit silly, at times) movie, that definitely shows A LOT of ciggarettes being smoked! If you enjoy 80's music and light comedy, go ahead and buy it. After all, every movie collection should include at least a few movies that DON'T require a lot of thought, right?

Summary: Picture a annoying sitcom made into a movie
Review: This movie was really terrible. If the characters in this movie were supose to irratate you to death than they did a wonderful job. IF this movie was a sitcom it would be equal to a wannabe knock off of "Friends". -so bad

Summary: HIGHLY UNDERRATED!
Review: This was a really great film. Paul Rudd and Courtney Love's chemistry was fantastic, and the Disco Cab Driver was hilarious. This is at least destined to become a cult classic.

Summary: Just in Time For New Years.
Review: Wow! Being a fan of Courtney Love's music, and acting at some times, I vowed to see all of her movies. This one was next on the list, besides Basquiat. I was going to rent it, but my local movie store had 2 copies on VHS for sale for $2.99, I knew I couldnt pass it up. The film is set up like a soap opera, ya know? where the camera flits from person to person, and situation to situation. Its hilarious! This movie is great! I love seeing some REAL punk rockers in this film, as opposed to all the posers of today, (okay they might be actors but who cares?) 200 Cigarettes features an all star lineup, of todays hottest new actors. And most of the acting is suprisingly realistic. My favorite part of the whole movie is when Dave Chapelle(The disco loving taxi driver) tells a "heart warming story" of when he was jealous of a friend because he had a girl he wanted, and the friend "Twayne" ended up choking on a string bean. And Courtney Love portrays her character in the way that she REALLY is in real life. Its really ironic how similar her character and her true demeanor are.
