Summary: Fall in Love for the First Time Everyday!
Review: The idea behind this film is that in a successful relationship you have to fall in love over and over again. In this story it happens literally everyday.

The performances:

Adam Sandler as Henry Roth shows his vulnerable side in his best and most natural performance.
Drew Barrymore as Lucy Whitmore has never been better, and has great chemistry with Adam. She emerges as a fine actor.
Rob Schneider as Ula may fool you that he is really the character he is playing, I didn't know it was him for half the move! He is brilliantly funny.
Sean Astin as Doug Whitmore (better known as Sam from the Lord of the Rings) is funny in this comic role as Lucy's lisping brother.
Pomaika'i Brown as Nick (tattoo face) the cook, is great in his small role and deserves bigger roles in the future.

Shot in Hawaii, it has beautiful cinematography and vibrant color. The movie is a combination of humor and romance with more heart than you might expect.

Summary: Sweet and entertaining, but a little crude
Review: Adam Sandler stars as Henry Roth with Drew Barrymore as Lucy Whitmore in this crowd pleasing romantic comedy "50 First Dates." Sandler plays a womaniser who learns alot about life when he meets the lovely Lucy who is stricken with short-term memory loss. I guess it's like a cross between "Memento" and the "Wedding Singer" without the out of control profanity of Memento and the 80's wardrobes and dodgy music of the Wedding Singer.

I love "The Wedding Singer", so was keen to watch this movie when I heard about it. Having seen it I found it most enjoyable. Drew Barrymore is very likeable in here role putting in a similarly charming performance as she did in the wedding singer. It's easy to see how someone could fall so easily for her.

Adam Sandler is amusing in this one but not overly so. Sean Astin puts in a strange performance as the lisping brother, it's hard to see him in any other character after Lord of the Rings. Rob Schneider also appears as a very strange man named Ula.

Overall I enjoyed this film, not sure why it got an R rating, there was frequent crude humour but rather tame by today's standards. It's still good not to have this in a movie, it did distract from the movies' charm but it is an Adam Sandler movie after all so the purile humour is expected. Hollywood will never learn the lesson that true love waits either, but I don't expect to learn morality from Hollywood, that's what the Bibles for!

Thanks for reading.

Summary: One to Forget in the Morning After
Review: After "The Wedding Singer", Sandler and Barrymore reunite on screen again to deliver this somewhat promising but ultimately average romantic comedy. Remember Guy Pearce`s character in "Memento"? Well, in "50 First Dates" Drew Barrymore plays Lucy, a girl that loses her recent memory each morning, virtually living the same routine endlessly. Adam Sandler`s character falls in love with her and dares to conquer her attention everyday. Cute, and very touching. Anyway, this movie ends up being too repetitive, slow, empty and especially unfunny, mixing drama and comedy yet failing to suceed at both. The directing is nothing special either, and the performances and characters are flat. Fortunately, the flick still presents some entertainment value, so it`s not a complete disaster. But there are much better movies around (Bernardo Bertolucci`s "The Dreamers" or Michel Gondry`s "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", to name a few).

Watchable and equally forgettable.

Summary: This movie was sweet - but also very funny
Review: First of all, let me say that when it comes to Adam Sandler movies, I'm on the fence. I dislike as many of them as I like. For example, I liked 'Waterboy', 'Happy Gilmore', and 'The Wedding Singer' while at the same time I really didn't care for 'Billy Madison', 'Little Nicky' or '8 Crazy Nights'. But with '50 First Dates' I'm very happy to say that Adam Sandler has found a winner.

This movie has all of the elements to make this one of his best. First off, the storyline is original. He falls in love with a girl who has a brain injury that causes her to forget everything that happened to her from one day to the next. So, each day that he meets her, she believes it's the first day she's met him.

The role of Sandler's girlfriend, Lucy, is one of the real reasons to like this movie. It's played by Drew Barrymore, and she does a wonderful job as the girl Sandler falls in love with, but can never remember that she loves him, too. Their chemistry is often hilarious, always sweet, and ultimately pays off quite nicely at the end of the movie.

Another element that helps this movie is the supporting cast. Sean Astin, playing Lucy's slow-witted, steroid-popping brother, is one of the funniest things about this movie. Coming from such a high-visibility series as 'Lord of the Rings', it was good to see how easily he moved into this new role. Rob Schneider is great (and quite believable, in my opinion) as a Hawaiian friend of Sandler's who helps him with his misadventures throughout the movie. Schneider has some of the funniest lines in the movie, and I found myself laughing out loud at his antics several times.

Ultimately, the thing I liked about this movie was that it preserved the humor of movies like 'Happy Gilmore' (fans of that movie will like the subtle reference to that movie...see if you can catch it) without resorting to all of the crude, childish humor of movies like 'Billy Madison'. Yes, there are some crude things in the movie (what Adam Sandler movie doesn't?). But it's toned down quite a bit, and the movie only gets better because of it.

I found the dialogue in this movie to be quite witty, and the story to be very believable. What's more, the story is put together in such a way that it allows you to really care about what happens to them. It offer enough romantic scenes to please anyone going on a date, and it's got enough humor so that you don't worry that you need your girlfriend along in order to justify going to see it.

The bottom line is...this movie made me laugh. A lot. And that's something I really enjoy doing.

Summary: Laugh and Cry and Laugh Again!
Review: 51st Dates, which stars DREW BARRYMORE, is a film I love!
It is an absolutely hilarious movie all the way through.
The story of a girl with short term memory loss will make you both laugh and cry.
With plenty of humorous characters that threaten to steal the rug from under BARRYMORE, she remains standing as a clever actress.

Summary: Funny , Good
Review: This movie was a good one.. Although I thought Lucy was going to get her memory back.. I didnt like the ending.. because she has to be reminded everyday of the marriage, and her husband. But it was funnny and one of the best too.. Adam Sandler is a great actor as well as Drew Barrymore. Both of them really did shine on their part as well as the other actors.. I give this movie a 10.. Buy it!!!

Summary: A surprisingly touching love story
Review: I was expecting the typical Adam Sandler work, and some of the film had the usual crass jokes. However, this one actually was in the end a very touching story

Adam Sandler plays a local playboy in Hawaii who avoids commitment until he meets Lucy (played by Drew Barrymore). Lucy was in an accident and has lost her short term memory. So, everyday she forgets what happens, and Adam has to win her back all over again.

There were a few surprises. Dan Ackroyd plays the neurologist who works at an institute funded by "TB Callahan from Sandusky Ohio"! An obvious tribute to the late Chris Farley.

Overall, if you can look past some of the annoying crass humor and jokes; this really is a very touching love story with a wonderful ending.

Summary: THE BEST ADAM SANDLER MOVIE EVER
Review: This is a really good, heart-warming comedy. As far as Sandler's movies go, this is the best in my opinion, which is not to say much, since I think he made quite a few mediocre ones. The story is about a guy (Adam) who falls in love with a girl that, since an accident a year earlier, has not been able to gain any new memories past the current day. The accident was on her father's birthday, so she thinks everyday of the year is it, making everyone around her put on a show. A little unbelievable, but the movie does make the story work quite nicely.

In 50 First Dates, the viewer sees a side to Adam Sandler that is not known; he does his usual physical and witty comedy, but he also demonstrates a sensitive side. Drew Barrymore also is very funny, though her character is by nature a strange one (with no memory beyond a day). The supporting cast is outstading, especially Rob Schneider, who definitely adds to the comic nature of the movie.

The story is also a very creative one, with a couple of loose ends but that can be overseen. For example, Lucy (Drew) is shocked when she first finds out that the life she is living is not real; the next time she finds out, she is a little less shocked, and even less the next time, when we know there should be no diference, since she has no memory of the previous day.

Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone who likes comedy. It is one of those movies in which you leave the theatre smiling.

Summary: Much better than expected
Review: I thought this would be a re-make of "Groundhog Day", but it was much better. Shot in Hawaii, the background is stunning. Highly
romantic, sad and funny at once with a happy ending. My wife made me take her twice! This one's a keeper for my collection.

Summary: Wonderful movie
Review: Adam Sandler is a great actor, but this movie is probably one of his best. Adam and Drew have wonderful chemistry, and I was really surprised on how romantic this comedy was. This was better than The Wedding Singer. Adam sang to Drew, and I was wishing I was her!! I went to see it 4 times in theaters, and that wasn't even enough. I can't wait to see it again. You must see this movie, you won't be disappointed!!
