Summary: Hilary Duff Shines as Cinderella
Review: Hilary Duff stars in this movie as a girl whose father dies in an earthquake. Because there is no will left her stepmother gets everything, including Sam (Hilary).

The movie picks up 8 years later where Sam is a senior in high school preparing to go to college at Princeton (that is, if she gets accepted). High school isn't exactly a happy experience for Sam as she has only two friends. One real, one an email friend that texts her constantly. To everyone else in the school she's know as Diner Girl.
Home isn't any better, as she is forced to live in the attic, do all of the chores, wait on her stepmother and sisters constantly, and work seven days a week at the diner owned by her stepmother.

Since I saw the previews of this movie I thought it looked funny. I've been looking forward to it since the first preview. However, now that it's out and I read the reviews I was nervous. Luckily my fears weren't realized. This movie ended up being a sweet, family friendly, romantic comedy. Duff does an excellent job of portraying Sam. She truly is an excellent young actress, the pep rally scene is proof of this.

While this movie wasn't really laugh out loud funny, it was funny at times, but more than that it was sweet and, for lack of a better word, cute. The direction was really nice. It wasn't super artsy, but it was well done and added a certain beauty to the film.

Cinderella Story ended up being a really sweet movie that deserves a better reaction than it recieved. Great acting, a clever update of an old fairy tale, an awesome soundtrack, and a likeable cast makes for a great afternoon at the movies.

Summary: A Cinderella Story
Review: I actually liked this movie very much. And to tell you a little about myself, I am 40+, and fairly picky about movies. My daughter loved it. And I could really find no wrong with it after several viewings. It is actually a very healthy, easy to watch movie with no bad jokes, no distasteful moments, no ego moves for Hilary Duff. She is sweet, genuine and very down to earth in this movie, not overly made up, not promiscuous, and a very good role model for young female viewers. And Chad Michael Murray does a good job as well as a decent young man.
The music was very enjoyable - somewhat romantic at times. The other supporting actors were fun. Jennifer Coolidge (Legally Blonde 1 and 2) is always entertaining even as a wicked stepmother, the actors who played the diner staff were good as well. The two stepsisters had minor roles, but they were amusing. Not that we live in California, but it seemed like high school life might be somewhat accurately depicted in this movie that doesn't try to be other than a fairytale anyways.
I enjoyed Hilary Duff much more in this movie than in "Cheaper By the Dozen" (hated that movie) or the Lizzie MacGuire Movie.
This is a good movie to buy because if your daughter's a preteen or a young teenager, she will most likely enjoy it very much - over and over! Our other two rentals at the same time were "Ella Enchanted" (don't) and "Princess Diaries 2 (I didn't personally view it, but my husband was not impressed). So, Hilary, hope to see more of you in movies like this!

Summary: Fabulouse
Review: i dragged my boyfriend to see this film because i just love hilary duff and have to see any film she is in and we BOTH really enjoyed it! i thought it was fantastic how they acted out the story of cinderella and gave it the perfect modern day teenage twist. As usual Hilary looks absolutley gorgeous expecially with her sparkling dress on. Prince charming is also gorgeous and and girl my age would die for him and i just think its the perfect file for any teenager who doesnt want to admit shes loves a good fairy tale and all the children will love it too! Get it and believe me u will love it!

Summary: Duff and Murray proving to be excellent actors
Review: I went to see A Cinderella Story, tonight. It was good, but could have been better. But this tends to happen when trying to keep a sweet, innocent appeal to a star. Hillary Duff (TV's Lizzie McGuire) plays lonely Sam Montgomery, who wonders who the boy at the other end of her Internet connection is-they have a lot in common. They finally meet up at a dance, where Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray, of Freaky Friday, and TV's One Tree Hill) sort of recognizes her. What makes this story work is that it stays in the "real world"...when it could have easily been another story using magic to save the day. Jennifer Coolidge as the "wicked stepmother" is annoying as usual, but at least her voice sounds clearer this time around. I think Duff and Murray are excellent actors, and they hold this movie up. Much better than Mean Girls, but not as fun as the critically trashed Sleepover. Recommended in this order: Sleepover, Story, then Mean. (Mean Girls is recommended only if you like bad movies and a friend already has it on DVD/video-that way you do not have to worry about wasting your money.) Next up for Duff, Raise Your Voice-as a teenage singer...here's to hoping she pushes into the PG-13 genre. Story is rated PG for brief innuendo and a fight scene.

Summary: Suprisingly Good!
Review: My sister got this movie for Christmas and I was bored one night, so I decided Id watch this movie since I hadnt seen it but did not expect anything of it. I must admit by the end of the movie I was sooooooo into it. Although I know some people will not like this movie, I recomend you atleast give it a try insteaed of sterotyping that since that girl from lizzie mcguire is in it its gonna stink. Some others will say....why see it when you know the ending? Valid point, but you know the ending to the movie Miracle....everyone seemed to like that (I didnt), so that means nothing. Throughout the movie you find yourself getting closer and closer to Hillary Duff's character and by the end you are just engullfed in the plot. Although this isnt a 'Oscar winning film', it will entertain you for one evening (espiacally if your a hopeless romantic). I would recomened that everyone give this movie a chance and go into it with an open mind

Summary: "Thats the point!"
Review: Samantha Montgomery (Hilary Duff) had all she ever wanted, until her Father (Whip Hubley) decided to say "I do," to the evil Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge), and by doing so, accepted her two evil daughters, Gabriella (Andrea Avery) and Brianna (Madeline Zima), as his own. Even with the new addition to her family, Sam's relationship with her Father never wavers, until a horrible earthquake shakes the San Fernando Valley, killing her Father, and leaving her in the care of Fiona. Eight years later is where the movie picks up. Sam is now working day and night at Fiona's Diner - the restaurant her evil step-mother inherited when her Father died - while at the same time works as hard as possible in school, in the hopes that she will be accepted to Princeton University, and have the chance to escape her horrible life. Unfortunately, even school is a mess, as her only friend and confidant - in the school world - is Carter (Dan Byrd); and her days are spent being tortured by the popular kids, Shelby (Julie Gonzalo) and Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray). However, there is one other person who Sam trusts, and that's her cyber-buddy. When her text-messaging friend asks to meet her at the Halloween Dance there is nothing but hesitation, until she finds out who her Prince is, and then all bets are off.

I have seen and loved probably every CINDERELLA re-make that has been released in recent years, and A CINDERELLA STORY is absolutely no exception. Hilary Duff (CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN and THE LIZZIE MCGUIRE MOVE), as always, gives a cute performance that makes you both sympathize with her character, and root for her at the same time. Jennifer Coolidge (LEGALLY BLONDE and AMERICAN PIE) does a fabulous job as her plastic-surgery obsessed step-mother; while Madeline Zima (THE NANNY and MR. NANNY) and Andrea Avery were very believable as the dim-witted, evil step-sisters. However, one of the best performances in the movie was that of Chad Michael Murray (FREAKY FRIDAY and ONE TREE HILL), who, as always, came through as the perfect Prince Charming, and will obviously make all girls who watch this movie swoon. Filled with cameos by other great performers such as Regina King (DADDY DAY CARE and RAY), A CINDERELLA STORY is sure to please even the oldest viewer.

Summary: Good but a little CHEESY
Review: this movie was da bomb. it just really told the story of cinderella so that teen and children could understand it better in a "real life way". Today in American there are so many girls like Sam that are push around everyday, and no one seems to care. Many girls like that don't stand up for themselves but Sam did. And i bet this movie really touched home for thousands of girls over the US. In the movie, they had the most inspiring quote i have ever heard. It was: "Never let the fear of stricking out keep you from playing the game". Every since i have seen the movie i have been using that quote. That my moto now.To me this moto means that although we have fears, they should not stop us from succeding in life. So i really enjoyed this film, and it inspire me and many other girl in my community. So please don't down the movie, because it teach us as teenage americans how to deal with pressure.
