Summary: Like Life:Mostly Visual
Review: Mickey Rourke is a wall street exec (miscast) and Kim Bassinger is an art dealer (miscast). They meet and fall in sex and act like sex fiends during most of the movie (perfect casting.) They do it in at least 15 different places indoors and outdoors and in as many different positions: and some you may not have thought of. Not that this isn't done erotically, but at the risk of being called a non-realist, I ask: "What's the point?" (I mean besides celebrating the fact that nice looking people can act like animals.) Anyway, Kim decides after 66 days that she should end their relationship. It is never made clear why, except that she may be exhausted. Bruce says she was the best. "Won't you please come back", he whispers after she leaves. What a guy! Four stars for sex. (Really, two, for script.)

Summary: Stunning
Review: Mickey has never looked better- before or after this flick. Kim's vulnerability and weirdly, off-kilter, shy sensuality gives the movie its heart. Well acted, beautifully filmed, great music. My two favorite scenes: the butcher shop when they first encounter each other, and the flea market scene, filmed in Greenwich village, when he surprises her with the expensive scarf she was eyeing, but could not afford. Ahhh, so romantic ...

Summary: could be a lot more intense
Review: Many scenes were cut ,brought back later in the dvd version.hearing the comments of rourke in 1989 (in Playboy magazine) that he wanted to intensify the scenes ,makes it clear that director lyne got not enough space from the producers to do so .

Summary: excellent movie for stimulating sexual energy
Review: One of my all time favorites! Very appealing and definitely puts you in the right kind of mood!:)

Summary: A dirty movie
Review: A story about sexual obsession.

Much similar to Showgirls, this movie shouldn't have been made. A terrible, degrading movie with a not-so-good plot.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: you will either find it boring or brilliant
Review: This is a film which will either bore you because of all the hype and because you are normal, or you will love it if you are into non-regular type films like Easy Rider. I've watched this film must be at least 60 times over the past ten years, and I like it for the following reasons: a) the scenes are simple and effective (e.g. John's house is great, the market place); the music makes the scenes enigmatic (e.g. Slave to love); the story is about two normal people who meet in normal every day conditions (no Hollywood type glamour with Tom Cruises/Dougleses/Pitts etc); its something which could happen to you today when you are on that boring subway, or in that boring supermarket checkout; the storyline is captivating: will she leave him or not ? ; the sex is not that explicit at all (i.e. it's not a porn); Rourke really knows how to handle that woman ! For me, it makes you want to start chatting up that woman at the bus stop and relive the fantasies in this film.

Summary: Soft Core Sadism?
Review: As a dirty movie, God, does this thing deliver. There's an over top sexaul encounter staged about every ten minutes or so, and they're all shot like shampoo commercials, with lots of soft light and sensual music. You'll be so caught up in watching it that the iniatial nature of the relationship being protrayed won't bother you until the end of the film. Then you'll begin to wonder: should this kind of sadism be so erotic and glamourous? Should this kind of disrespect to women be so enjoyable to watch?

Summary: An electrifying sexual journey
Review: This film is stimulating sexually, much more so than many films that directly attempt to be this way. A more subtle approach is sometimes better! Be certain, though, that Kim Basinger's strip is the best one ever seen on film (no teasing involved!) When Mickey Rourke discovers that Kim has gone through his belongings in his apartment, he tells her that he will have to spank her. "Your kidding, right?" she replies. No, he's not!

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Slow movie about an intimate and brief relationship between two people that do not know much about each other past some of the surface nuances. The movie doesn't explore their relationship much other than the desire for physical intimacy between each other. Although the movie focuses on Basinger and Rourke's brief lust and wonder for each other, it doesn't show much in terms of actually fulfilling that lust. Threw this movie away after one viewing.
