Summary: This Film Started It All
Review: This is the film started it all. The story line is simple. A cool, distant man, Mickey Rourke, a beautiful charming woman, Kim Bassinger, who was pushed by the man that she loved into doing some things that she would not normally do. The movie was all about the man, the woman and his games. The whip scene made the "Un-Rated" version but not the theatrical version. This scene gave the theatrical version a x-rating. The film was well written, well acted and directed and the themes worked so well that Mr. King used simular themes in the films "Two Moon Junction" and "Wild Orchid".

Summary: Hands down( sorry for pun) best erotic DVD video ever....
Review: As an avid reader of erotic literature, it's certainly understandable that most erotic books could hardly be put on film without the cast and producers being immediately and summarily jailed by the powers to be.

However, this DVD of top notch entertainers, both in front and behind the cameras, have managed to develop those super elements of eroticism, of pursuit, capture, and ultimate submission of the mind and body that give spice to the sex and sin of it.

Zalaman King, as one of the team that produced and wrote the screenplay, and soundtracks by Grace Jones, Eurythmics, and Joe Cocker, not to mention the wonderfull acting skills of Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke (don't let preconceived notions of Mickey cloud your judgement in this DVD)makes this DVD a star packed sensation cut by masters.

It follws that the technical production of this DVD is blue blood quality and of course it's widescreen, dolby digital etc etc ... nuff said ...

In the story our hero(Mickey,) meets and then seduces, Elizabeth(Kim B,) and then leads her on a wild and woderfull erotic journey of the heart, mind and the body. Elizabeth does not understand this and has trouble with this magical mystery tour since she has never met a wealthy, gentle, caring man who is a master of all flavours of erotic delights, and, he has the patience to court, woo and gently seduce our heroine .... (BTW it's true those men don't exist, so, if you want reality, stop reading here and forget this DVD ... LOL ) ......

The erotic seductions scenes are skillfully done, and, the scene on the kitchen floor where Rourke feeds Bassinger a luscious assortment of foods is probably the best food erotic scene ever filmed. Trust me, there aren't many of todays actress stars that would allow the camera to get in that close to their faces as Bassinger did while literally gobbling up those dleights that she should get an academy award for that performance ....

Finally, I would venture to guess that most men would not enjoy this movie, (they wouldn't have the patience and besides that's why they invented porn) but, I can assure you, that if you are a woman and reads romance novels you'll, love it, and, here's the best part, if you are a woman that enjoys erotic literature, well then RUN and I mean RUN and buy this DVD cause like I said, hands down, (or whatever) it's fabulous and you won't love this DVD you'll gobble it all up ......

Summary: Stylized obsession...
Review: I can't think of a more sublimely stylized film prior to 1986 depicting the nature of sexual obsession since "Last Tango in Paris". Set in the decadent eighties with Rourke and Basinger at their (erotic) prime, and with brilliant New York City cinematography as the backdrop, this materialistically lush film is probably half the reason men have opted for careers on Wall Street, own lofts in SoHo, and keep a backup supply of ice cubes in their SubZero freezers. And to think this was filmed 15 years ago...

Summary: 9 1/2 Weeks
Review: This is a great movie if you are watching it with that special someone in your life. The love scenes were very tastefully done. My only complaint is the quality of the DVD is not much better than my VHS copy, so if you want to save the difference in cost I would suggest getting the tape. Enjoy!

Summary: "Good..... I think not"!
Review: I thought it was rather boring myself. All they did was have sensual sex, and so what?. I wasn't excited over this movie at all. I guess it was suppose to be an erotic thriller, but to me it .... To be honest 2 stars is really being too kind.

Summary: That birds and bees joke
Review: 9 1/2 WEEKS reminded me of that birds and bees joke. That's where the Dad told the son about sex in very graphic terms, finishing by asking, "Have you got any questions?" Then the kid says, "Yeh, Dad. How do you keep from laughing?" Well, this movie was a little bit funny about the sex parts. A guy on a bar stool sort of blushed when Basinger and Rourke engaged in some foreplay at the bar. Mostly, however, the movie "story" was demeaning to women. It was not entertaining. It was boring. I give it two stars because of the locations. The movie shows off a side or two of New York City, and the evening photography was excellent.

Summary: LEAVE THE BLINDFOLD ON AND DON'T SAY A WORD...
Review: I SAW 9 1/2 WEEKS 16 YEARS AGO AND THE IMPACT HAS NEVER LEFT ME.
I BELIEVE WHAT MAKES THIS FILM SO ADDICTIVE IS HOW THE DIRECTOR IS ABLE TO TAKE SUCH A SKIMPY SCRIPT AND MAKE IT INTO AN EPIC WORK THROUGH A KALEIDOSCOPE OF VAST IMAGERY.
THERE IS ALSO A CONTAINED FURY OR PERHAPS A INNER INTENSITY THAT IS GRIPPING FROM THE FIRST SHOT TO THE LAST.
JOHN(MICKEY ROURKE) IS A CHARACTER OF POWER,CHARM,AND A EERIE MYSTERY THAT IS ALURRING MAKING IT EASY TO UNDERSTAND HOW A WOMAN COULD FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM.
ELIZABETH IS A TENDER FRAGILE BEING THAT IS ALL TOO READY TO GIVE HERSELF TO THE MAN SHE LOVES.
UNFORTUNATELY SHE GIVES HER HEART TO A MAN WHO IN THE END CRAVES ONLY TO POSSESS HER LIKE A TOY.
IT IS A SAD AND TRAGIC TALE THAT MAKES YOU WONDER HOW COULD ELIZABETH BE SO BLIND AND FOOLISH YET WHEN WE LOOK AROUND WE SEE HER IN OTHERS OR POSSIBLY WITHIN OURSELVES.
SCENES OF EROTICA ARE MASTERFUL AS THEY BUILD UP TO EXPLOSIVE CLIMAXES OR IGNITE IN A FLASH OF SWEAT AND FIRE.
THIS IS TRULY AN EXPERIENCE THAT WILL SPARK A FLAME WHETHER IF IT'S IN THE PASSION OR IN THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR ELIZABETH AND JOHN.
AN UNFORGETTABLE VOYAGE THRU THE LAND OF THE TWISTED AND WEAK THAT WILL REMAIN WITHIN YOU FOR AN ETERNITY.

Summary: Dig your nails in Erotica
Review: This is a movie for all of you who like films like Wild Orchid and The Lover. It is a deep look into the lives of two manhattanites who fall into a lust driven affair. There is more than enough glimpses of Kim Basingers body and Mickey Rourke plays John Grey whom I believe to be one of the coolest characters to hit the silver screen.A definate, must have for your collection.

Summary: 9 1/2 WEEKS,,,(only 4 stars because of its ending)
Review: Hi everyone, nine and a-half weeks, is your tipicle romantic love story, and that shows through from the very begining, but as the story develops, theirs loots of twists and exciting new things, (mostly in the sexual area). Elizabeth is a painter and works in an everyday art studio, shes been married once before but he wasn't the right one. On the other hand, John is a single business man who has never been in-love. But when he meets Elizabeth things start to change, he develops love for her. Their new romantic life brings edge and fun to their relationship, the way they touch each other even brings you to the end of your seat. Elizabeth enjoys everything about this reltionship, the way John treats her, the way he buys her gifts and the way he respects her. Their relationship is moving closer and closer to the L word. But John will never say it until it comes to the end, even then Elizabeth won't hear him. It isn't a happy-ending, they split and Elizabeth leaves him! all i can say is John go after her! But as a summary of this extremly romantic movie is that it is, fun, sexy, romantic, brilliant and a very good thought out film,(can't u tell its my favorite?!)Mickey Rourke (John) is really hot and very talented as he woos Elizabeth, and Elizabeth is very beautifula nd also very talented in the way she holds a strong head and stays exciting and fun throughout the movie. Wathch the movie, and experience what i have, just be prepared for this sex-o-matic flick.

Summary: Kind of sickening, doomed from the very start!
Review: Passion they say. Obsession they say too. Neither. Possession for the man who wants to possess. Possessed-ness for the woman who wants to be possessed, mesmerized. The man treats the woman first as a child, then as a territory, then as a playmate, then as toy, then as a pet. And she starts resisting. So he treats her as a circus wild animal that has to be tamed. She refuses the game. Then he treats her as a voyeur, or voyeuse. Ans she walks out. Then she probably becomes a plant. And that's when she can't stand it any more. And she finally leaves. She is never loved for what she is, but for what he wants her to be and she accepts to be. It is not a love story, and from the very start. It is a magic trick. You must believe and play your part. It is roleplaying and nothing else. He probably loves her but he loves her submission, her domination, her acceptation to be directed as if she were and actress without a soul. Dr Jacques COULARDEAU, Paris Universities II and IX.
