Summary: A Fun Movie
Review: While this movie may have had some shortcomings in the originality department it was overall very entertaining. The two main characters Maggie and Kim are two really cute young adults that fall in love very quickly ( there is some great kissing and one really hot sex scene in a bathroom stall later on in the film). The problem is Maggies mother and younger brother are coming to stay with her and arrive the very day this new love begins. Maggies mother does not know that Maggie is gay and this results in all sorts of funny and sometimes heartfelt (for those of us that have been through similar ordeals) scenarios. Maggies mother is played beautifuly by Wendy Crewson. She's a sort of nieve over protective type, but she's genuine and really thinks she knows whats best for Maggie. She also learns a few things about herself while living with Maggie. She ends up becomming friends with another character in the film Judy ( a trans gendered night club singer that hopes to gain acceptance from her parents someday) and together they bring alot of comic relief into the film. Anne Marie MacDonald plays Francis. There's alot of comedy in Francis dealing with her controversial bookstore and her attraction to Judy. In the end all the main characters have taken a journey and end up with a greater understanding of themselves and life. Get the film...you'll watch it time and time again.

Summary: not bad... a lot of laughs
Review: Drawbacks:

the gay slash social messages the writer tries to convey are utterly preposterous: the whole "leave me alone, stop beating me up, just let me be" antiracist cry is too... out there for me, if you know what i mean. nobody denies our community is homophobe, but, still, u gotta crank it down a notch or two(or a LOT more), man (i'm referring to the writer, don't take it personal, people)! I don't think Judy's despaired, sappy face could convince anyone.

Dwyer(Maggie)'s performance is merely laughable. and to think i just googled her name and found out (the surprise!) she has done a LOT of movies... that's weird!

The plot is predictable and silly. if we put the funny parts of the film aside, i don't even know what the film is talking about: coming out to one's family, society's homophobia, i just don't get it! it merely under the category gay/lesbian!

Strong/bearable points (after reading the rather agressive "Drawbacks" part, you all suppose i couldn't find any):

Paul (Kevin Mundy) is a real babe (hubbah hubbah)! sorry for my drooling but what a cutie! simple, next-door type but hot like a fire! i'd love it if there were a few more scenes with him.

The music is ripping! not only the "theatrical shows" in the bar but the selection of the overall music is really pleasant.

The dialogs are witty and facetious. i laughed a LOT, i burst into cries every 3-4 minutes (i wasn't ACTUALLY counting!)

did i already mention that Paul's a hunk? i did? oh well, doesn't hurt repeating it...

Briefly, for a low-budget film, it is rather decent

Summary: Plot Anyone?
Review: This movie is (sadly) a perfect example of most lesbian movies today. The plot is week, the characters are shallow, the acting is minimal, and even the sex scenes lack steam. In today's culture, lesbians are so overlooked that ANY movie with one in a plot would probably warrant most girls to give it a 5 out of 5. Please, people! Get some standards! Try Tipping the Velvet, Bound, Fire, or The L Word- all of which have plot, character, acting, and amazing sex.

Summary: Good movie
Review: I found this movie to be very enjoyable!! Nice comedy/romance...There is a few sex scenes...Not a whole lot or anything detailed but that wasn't why I bought the movie anyhow...One of the best parts of the movie was when the van was towed while they were both in it and things were starting to heat up!!! This is definitely a movie I don't mind watching again and again!!

Summary: Truely Better Than Chocolate
Review: This is one of my favorite movies! I think this movie is all around different and is GREAT because it is basically like our every day lives. It is based around a girl whos mother doesn't know she is a lesbian or denies it. Her mother is getting a divorce and decides to move in with her lesbian daughter who doesn't have a place yet but finds one. Then she meets a girl and gets caught with her by her mother. It shows how she copes with coming out to her mother and much more. This is a really good drama movie with lots of "good" scenes. I highly recomend this movie!

Summary: This Movie Really Is..."Better Than Chocolate"
Review: This movie was awesome...it showed the characters as people, not labels or stereotypes. There was barely any mention of the main characters as "lesbians". That wasn't the point...not that they were Lesbians, but that they were just people. This was a true film that displays what real love is really about. It's about acceptance of a person, and everything that comes with that person, good or bad. Weather it be a mother accepting her daugher as a Lesbian, friends accepting eachother for who they are, or lovers accepting eachother no matter what. This film really sends the message that, if you love someone...just love them...dont let stupid differences get in the way. Love is a gift, dont throw it away because you dont understand something about the person.

I recommend this movie to anyone with an open mind. Although it is low budget and only shot in 22 days, the acting is amazing (MUCH emphasis on the BEAUTIFUL Christina Cox) and the soundtrack is wonderful. This movie has everything from comedy, to romance, to drama. This movie makes you laugh and cry, but most of all...it leaves you with a smile on your face.

Summary: Come together right now
Review: I am always amazed by the range of stars that are applied
by the reviewers. This frenetic little movie might titilate you
a little or a lot, or become so grating that you just wish
it would end. There are some moments in it
that are palatable --- but the wrap-up is so screwy --- the
porn shop nude scene, the skinheads, and the explosion,
just before all of the chicks manage to have happy endings
and just ahead of the longest lesbian kiss ever --- that had
me fast-forwarding.

Christina Cox is a pip.

Summary: Not as Good as Chocolate.
Review: This movie was a weak attempt to cram every lesbian trope into 90 minutes. The performance was over-acted, the plot quite thin and seemingly unfeasible. However, the attempt to address issues of transgender/trans-sexual women in the lesbian community was a much needed, and fairly well executed, highlight in this otherwise oversimplified film.

Summary: Coming out is ... "better than chocolate"
Review: Love is exposing yourself to different experiences in life, such as that of coming out, and letting yourself love. What is better than chocolate, if you are a fiend, and find chocolate as addicting as love? Expose yourself here to a cute movie who will what is "better than chocolate."
