Summary: A match dangling in MARK's mouth marks him a martyr.
Review: A cinematic cliche of MARK (played by CHOW YUN FAT) of him having a match dangling from the very corner of his mouth, that marks his romantic heroism in the movie. Of him "holding a woman in a Japanese restaurant's hallway, dancing in SLOW MOTION and MARK swirls himself in the proximity of every flower pot behind his fluttering BLACK COAT, he puts his handguns along the way for his escape, romantically", MARK is shot in the leg, that marks him as a martyr and a sartyr. MARK is actually both. MARK plots himself a revenge once and for all.....(it's one of the most exciting gangster movies, I don't think any re-make can match Woo's romantic heroism in this movie.....one of the most successful films from Hong Kong, and this video is certainly a must-buy item for any serious collector!!!!!)

Summary: A POWERFULL WORK
Review: All I have to say is buy it,rent it,love it. If you are a Woo fan, then this is a must for you. If your not a Woo fan then you are missing out on some of the best Hong Kong action ever made.

Summary: Where did the FORREST GUMP MUSIC come from??????
Review: Let me just say, I love this film. Now that that's out of the way , let's talk about this DVD.I had seen this film many times before buying it on disc, and I was very dissapointed by two things. One. They changed alot of the original music and replaced it with movie themes from, yes, Forrest Gump, Speed, and one or two I couldn't recognize. This is unforgivable. Second. In an attempt to take advantage of DVD Dolby Digital sound, they've remixed the gunfire to constantly come from the rear channels, which is both unrealistic and extremely dissorienting. As much as I love hearing a great stereo mix, this film was not meant to be heard this way, and this is a very sloppy attempt to create true stereo sound. The picture, on the other hand looks better than previously available, but I found myself having to turn my black level all the way down to make the picture look natural. It is very bright, to the point of washing out color. So the 2 stars is for this DVD presentation, not the film. A Better Tomorrow is the movie that launched a thousand two fisted gun battles, and caused every actor in Hollywood to secretly want to be Chow Yun Fat.

Summary: Starts off bad, concludes well.
Review: Better Tommorrow starts off as a horrible film. It seemed like John Woo was trying to make it into a comedy. Then, after the first 30-40 minutes, the film starts getting a lot more dramatic and gets better. Excellent performance by Chow Yun-Fat.

Summary: a brilliant masterpiece
Review: Chow Yun Fat,Ti Lung, and Leslie Chung all deliever great performances in this film. From the heartful confrontation between bothers behind the bar to Chow Yun Fat hiding 9mm's in flower pots, this film is superbly done. The acting was great, the movie is just resonating with heart and soul. From the ideals of brotherhood to strong comradery, this film has it's own spirit to it that cant be re-created.

Summary: Classic John Woo - Chow Yun Fat Combo
Review: This is the movie that made Chow Yun Fat! Classic John Woo direction! Some of the scenes are elementary, but considering this was made over 10 years ago, it is worth watching. The Chow Yun Fat restaurant assasination scene is a classic.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a typical John Woo style, excellent!
Review: This movie is excellent if you love John Woo's Chinese movies. It conveys all type of emotions regarding siblings: love, hate, anger, etc. After seeing this movie, the feeling lingers on indefinitely

Summary: Must-see for the Woo aficionado. Exciting HK action
Review: While occasionally under-rated, I consider this some of Woo's best medium-level work. Not in the class with The Killer, or Hard Boiled, but carrying the expected Woo storyline about a not-so-bad bad-guy (pair of them, actually), and the bad things that happen to them. Certainly recommended for fans of Hong Kong action movies, and required viewing for Woo fans

Summary: Great chou youn fat with black coat
Review: The image of the chou is very imppressive. Usually oriental people like the loanly image of the chou very much and they wish to show them selves like chou with wearing black long coat. If you get closer with this movie, you'll easily familliar with the oriental people.

Summary: One of the most shoot em dead action flicks ever created
Review: "A Better Tomorrow" is THE original ganster film that makes all past and future flicks alike, seems like Sesamese Street.

I like to call this one a classic "old school".
