Summary: Superb show let down by inferior audio
Review: I was looking forward to the DVD version of this movie which purportedly boasted of dolby digital 5.1. The quality of the audio was really inconsistent. Dialogue became soft suddenly and sound effects were almost non-existent. The effects from the shooting scenes were therefore disappointing. I had to strain to hear the dialogue at times. To be fair, I heard the Cantonese version. I don't know how the Mandarin version will fare. Other than the inferior sound quality, this is a superb movie, as good as part 1. Chow YF returns as "Ah Mark"'s twin brother who runs a restaurant in the USA. The cheekiness and the don't-care-less attitude portrayed by Chow is unsurpassed.

Summary: If you love this film, you're missing the point.
Review: John Woo's best films are not just about beautifully choreographed violence. They have themes -- frienship, loyalty, duty -- that are as strong as those of an old-time samurai picture. ABT2 does NOT have any of those, and that's why it's bad.

I have re-watched this film a few times, for a brainless thrill. But the next time you read a review saying how "awesome" this film is, keep in mind that Woo is never aiming for "awesome" violence. In fact, he says he hates violence, and puts it in his films when it's subordinate to the themes he wants to get across.

The best thing about this film is that Tsui Hark (who produced) wanted Woo to make it even more violent, and Woo declined. This led to Woo breaking away from Hark totally when he made "The Killer" -- now there's a picture that has everything ABT2 is begging for.

Summary: Rent it for the rice scene
Review: I don't think a sequel to "ABT" should have been made. The first one is a classic...so good that it was hard to top. Furthermore, since Mark Gor(Chow) is already dead in the first one, it makes the story involving him as a twin brother in "ABT-II" sound kind of stupid. A good movie must not only come with good directing, but also a good plot-which this lacks. However, it is worth to watch for the scene in which Chow forces a guy to eat his fried rice. Chow's facial expression is funny, and his performance in that scene shows real talent. It also gives a sneek peek at what he can do in comedy movies, which is often overshadowed by his action movies. It is not worth it to buy the whole ABT set, because the series is not connected well. I would only recommend buying "ABT-I", but renting the other two for all you Chow Yun Fat fans. By the way, his last name is Chow, not Fat.

Summary: Not Woo's best, but still great!
Review: John Woo is without a doubt one of the most incredible directors ever to have created a movie. His movies are shot with a style that no other director has. But it seems that he rushed his way through this film, but that's not to say it's not brilliant. The ending is fantastic, but it is a little bit to short, compared to his other epics like, "Hardboiled", and "The Killer". the story isn't to be taken to seriously, and was ment to be a parody of his earlier gangstar movie, "A Better Tomorrow". If you get a chance see it, I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Summary: One of the best action-endings ever and lots of weird scenes
Review: A decent overall movie, though not even remotely close to the original. It has many stupid plot ideas, but the acting and slick production values lift it up above average. It has many bad parts, but several individual scenes, mostly the ending and rice scenes, plus the de-insanism of Uncle Lung also make it better. Worth seeing, but not worth paying 30 bucks for.

Summary: The best John Woo movie to date.
Review: This movie is awesome. Much better than the first one and also much bloodier. The last 20 minutes are filled with blood, guns, grenades,a sword, an axe and tons of action. Don't miss this classic. don't listen to the revies that say it isn't a classic because it is, it's a bloody one too. John Woo is better than steven Spielberg.

Summary: Few sequels are better than the originals...
Review: ... and this movie is no exception. For fans of violent action for its own sake only; those who are expecting the drama and terse emotion of the original will be disappointed.

An unfortunate waste of the talents of Chow Yun-Fat and Leslie Cheung, but as usual the action sequences are lovingly crafted by John Woo.

Summary: One of the best chinese action movies ever
Review: Chow-Yun-Fat is a movie idol to me. I've been watching his films since I was in second grade. He is definately the coolest man alive. True, Relacement Killers and The Corruptor were pretty bad, he still looks good in a suit while shooting all the bad guys. This is the ultimate movie for all you action fans out there.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Vintage John Woo.
Review: The genesis of what's to come. Loyalty. Honor. Blood. The three main components of what Woo is all about. To truly appreciate his later work (Hardboiled-The Killer)one must view where it all began. Miss this and miss everything.

Summary: The Even Better Tomorrow
Review: I liked this one better than the first. Bringing back Yun Fat's character as a distant twin from America was a little campy, but the overall plot was a lot of fun. I especially love the scene where Yun Fat rubs the mobster's face in the rice telling him to respect the rice. Yun Fat plays a very cool character, with much less angst from the first one. Finally, if anything is worth watching, it is the final 15 minutes, a great action scene with plenty of guns, grendades, dynamite, and even the random katana thrown in. Great action poetry.
