Summary: Very entertaining
Review: It took me a long time to get round to watching this movie, as I couldnt see how it could be better than the cartoon.

Surely it would be impossible to give the animals characted in the same way you can with animation.

How wrong I was! This is a very entertaining film and way cuter than the cartoon. Quite how they managed to marshall all those puppies I dont know, but the result is excellent.

There is more adult humor in this film, without being risque, making it a family movie, where as the cartoon is firmly set as a kids movie.

Highly recommended!

Summary: 101 Dalmatians Has Been Re-Born!
Review: While the live action version doesen't have the same charisma & spark as Disney's classic it still is perfectly made. I have to join with everybody when I say that the casting of Glenn Close as Cruella De Vil was nothing short of genius. She brings Cruella to life in frightening form, acting with an Acadamy Award winning portrayal of Disney's most famous villan. Jeff Daniels also gives a good performance as Rodger, Pongo's proud owner & Joely Richardson's brillant portrayal of Anita nearly steals the show from the villianous Close while Joan Plowright turns Nanny into a classic Disney character. The dalmatians as well as the rest of the canine cast prevail proving many wrong when they said the dog performances would screw this one up.

But for the slap-stick comedic relief the kids feel has to be alive in the film isn't left out. Cruella's bumbaling sidekicks, Horace & Jasper are not left behind & many of their hilarious antics will have your kids rolling.

Summary: Cute, but nowhere near as charming as the animated movie.
Review: Yes, Glenn Close is perfect as Cruella De Vil. And, yeah, it's neat to see a small army of puppies roaming the screen. But that's probably not enough for most audience members, and it wasn't enough for me: The live-action "101 Dalmatians" substitutes slapstick for heart, plot and ... well, everything. I don't doubt that small children will get a kick out of bicycles crashing into ponds, dogs biting people on the rear end, dogs urinating on floors and people getting an electric fence to the crotch. But adults will almost certainly notice that they haven't gotten anything in the way of more sophisticated jokes, plots or fully developed characters to entertain them.

This is a rental, except for families with young, slapstick-loving children. I suggest parents have a book nearby for "family movie time," though.

Summary: One of my favorites
Review: Most Disney movies will stick with you for the rest of your life after you see them, and you will never forget them. "101 Dalamatians" is one of those. When the dalmatians, Pongo and Perdita, find out that they have 15 dalmatian pups, they think that nothing can go wrong. That is, until Cruella De Vil shows up and they find out that she is evil and that she wants to steal their puppies. Cruella hires Horace and Jasper to steal the puppies for her. Pongo and Perdita have to find a way to get their puppies back from these wretched enemies. With the help of some other dogs such as Colonel and using the 'Twilight Bark,' they just might have a chance.

I grew up watching "101 Dalmatians," and it's still a good movie to watch. I know when I settle down and have kids one day that they will like it just as much as I do. The movie has some good songs and it doesn't get boring the whole movie. I recommend anybody to get "101 Dalmatians."

Summary: 101 dalmatians
Review: not bad, this movie is definitely better than the jungle book(94) it some great moments like the bicycle ride and the escape and of cruella is the star of the movie but I think this movei has too much comedy too compete with the original, like the score and the new version of "Cruella De Vil".

(102 dalmatians coming this fall! woof, woof!)

Summary: One Hundred and One Dalmations
Review: That is the way the title is read, not 101, according to my dad. It is my favorite Disney film, no matter how you spell it.I really like the way they did the artwork. It looks alike "Jungle Book" and "The Sword In the Stone" which I also like. I remember seeing it in the show with my mom and dad and I had a really good time. We saw it 3 times. I liked the way Pongo and Perdita did not give up on their pups. It has a real good feeling about it. Why don't they issue a sountrack to this film? The DVD is great. I remember we got it on Laser disc last year, but this looks a little sharper and sounds really good.

Summary: Masterful adaptation of Disney's animated hit!
Review: 101 DALMATIANS is one of Disney's most adored animated masterpieces, and has been embrased by dog lovers around thew world. So the stuido needed to make sure that this live-action adaptation followed in it's footsteps--er, sorry, PAWprints. But they didn't have to worry--this has all the elements of a good live-action comedy, while not streching itself too far away from the goodness of animated. Glen Close is a devilish Cruella...Disney couldn't have picked someone better for the role. While it can be a bit scary for the youngest viewers, it's very entertaining and has just enough power to make you get goosebumps when she has screen time while not scaring you completly so you turn the video off--a little scare is refreshing now and then. While it doesn't have the animated characters, Disney is limited in what they can have the puppies do to escape--but where there lacks the power of anamation, there comes the power of comedy. There's always some zany way for the escape to happen--and there's also one more important element: the stupidity of Horrace and Jasper (Cruella's bumbeling henchmen.)

To sum it up: While this is a little bit different from the animated classic we all remember, it's still got the spirit--and it's very much worthwhile to dog lovers, although I don't know how much certoam cat fatanatics will enjoy this..... ;O) (HIGHLY RECOMENDED. Essensial to any family's collection, this is something everyone can enjoy...unless, of course, you purrrrrfer cats and kittens.)

Summary: 101 Dalmations, 101 Laughs
Review: Quite simply, wonderful. This film is true to Disney form. There's something in it for every member of the family. Casting Glen Close as the infamous Cruella De Vil was pure genious. There is plenty of slapstick, with dialogue of a more "overt" nature. If you want to buy a movie and not regret it, this is the one. I gaurantee you'll watch it 101 times.

Summary: Good or Bad? Disney's "101 Dalmations"
Review: To be perfectly honest, "101 Dalmations does NOT rank high on my list of Disney Favorites, and I do own every DVD & VHS released to date...

The Quality of the movie is stellar, and the sound is wonderful.

If you are a VHSer, I wouldn't worry about buying this DVD. There no extras, games, etc., and isn't much different that the VHS edition... except for the quality, of course.
