Summary: PLEASE Put back in what you took out!
Review: I loved A Muppet Family Christmas when I first saw it on TV, it was adorable, fun and had every scene intact unlike the DVD and unfortunately it's even edited when it's rerun on TV, I taped it one Christmas when it was on TV and was miffed when I watched it and found it had missing scenes, I hope they rerelease this on a new DVD and put back in what they took out, I would very gladly buy a redone DVD that does this delightful Christmas special justice! The original non edited special deserves more than 5 stars and I love how they included the adorable Muppets from Sesame Street like Big Bird and Elmo and the adorable Fraggle Rock muppets like Sprocket. An Edited and choppy DVD deserves less than 1 star! I'm not sure if the video is edited or just the DVD but I would think that if the DVD is edited and TV reruns are edited that the video would very most likely also be edited. What a shame!

Summary: A Muppet Family Christmas
Review: I wish I took the time to read the reviews before buying this DVD. My family loved this TV special and we have watched it over and over from a tape we made from the TV. I thought my family would be delighted to have a high quality DVD to watch and share with others, but we were all very disappointed when we found out that several scenes were deleted. Jim Henson, is someone that I held in high esteem, I can't believe his production company would do just a poor job of producing this DVD. I can't help but feel ripped-off.

Summary: Muppet Family Christmas to air Dec 22nd, 2002
Review: I somehow missed this special growing up, and I am a rabid muppet fan. So this version is decent enough for never having seen the original, but I would much rather have it uncut as Jim Henson intended it. That said, I have done a little research and found that the special will be showing on December 22nd at 6 p.m. on the Hallmark Channel (formerly Odessey channel, I think). I have no idea if it is the original or not, but I am hoping it will be. Check your local listings to be sure; I could not verify the time so don't hold me responsible if it's not correct! I hope this helps anyone looking to see the correct version like I am. Best of luck and here's hoping it's the right one!

Summary: Not for 80's version fans!
Review: Really now.. When I heard that they were putting my FAVORITE Christmas film on DVD I was so excited. Muppet Family Christmas is something that my family always watches. It's funny, sweet, and so entertaining.

But, unfortunetly, the version on the DVD is not the version I just praised. They're are massive edits that are very noticable to viewers who have watched it since it first aired on TV and may leave new time viewers confused. Fozzie's duet with the Snowman is cut out, the Muppet Babies home video is cut out (leaving Doc with a very strange line that doesn't make sense) and in my opinion the best part, where Miss Piggy enters and sings her song and slips on the Icey Patch is edited out. The best Icey patch gag and it's left out of the DVD/VHS.

I am not going to buy this DVD, Fortunetly, my VHS tape still works well enough to watch it (yes with the OshGosh commercails and Double Mint Gum ones too!). Until they put the real version on the market, I will not spend my money on the DVD.

Oh, if anyone has a good version of the real version, please let me know!

Review: I wish I had read the other customer reviews before I purchased this video. I can't believe how they chopped up what I consider one of the best Christmas specials ever made. Next time, I'll make sure I'm getting the whole show before I buy. What a disappointment!

Summary: happy holidays, indeed.
Review: The holiday season does not officially start until I've seen this. I have watched it every year for as long as I can remember. I'll take this and 'Christmas Eve on Sesame Street' over the usual Christmas suspects (Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life, and especially A Christmas Carol) any day! A must-have.

Summary: What happened to this DVD?
Review: I was very disappointed in the DVD version of a timeless classic. In DVD there is no restriction on time or length, but somehow Jim Henson Production failed to include several musical numbers, 4 by my count. I have an old copy of this that was taped off television back in the late 80's, and I could not believe that it had been butchered. Most of the missing sections are obvious, because there is choppy scene switching, and someone who had never seen it before, would have been very confused about how Fozzy and the Snowman became comedic partners. This rates as 3 stars, not because the DVD itself was bad, but the decisions of some executives to leave out scenes that made this classic very special to me, as part of my youth. I wish I had read the on-line reviews before purchasing this DVD.

Summary: Ooohhhh, MUPPETS!!
Review: I know I'm slightly biased, being a complete obsessed fan of the Muppets. However, this is such a genuinely happy, stereotypical Christmas-ish special, it's impossible not to love it! The marvelous Muppet humor and spirit that we all know and love is in full force for this great Christmas adventure. A must have for you Muppet fans, and a must have for anyone who simply wants to forget about the world and smile for a little while.

Summary: Ah, Sweet Yuletide Memories
Review: For those who grew up with the Muppets and all of Jim Hensons marvelous characters, this Christmas special is the perfect one and guarenteed to please!

Summary: Where are the commercials???
Review: Our family starts every Christmas season viewing our old recorded from TV version of this classic and it cannot be the same without the OSHKOSH B'Gosh commercials!! But,unfortunately, nothing lasts forever --including video tape-- and so, reluctantly, I order every family to purchase this DVD! Fozzie's frazzled mom looking for space to put everyone wasn't nearly so funny til my own children grew up, married and came home with children of their own. The sing along finale is worth the price of the movie. You will love it!
