Summary: I had doubts, but no more
Review: I had been leaning towards a powered subwoofer and larger satellites from other companies when my wife gave me the AM6 on the recommendation of an audiophile friend. I have not been disappointed. The sound is crisp and clean, and when watching DVDs the rumble from special effects is great - I did not think a passive subwoofer and my modest receiver could do this. Perhaps this can't rattle the walls like a hundred watt subwoofer but the clarity and balance is simply great.

The setup instructions are very good, and the single big cable with all the wires for the receiver made hookup in the entertainment unit much easier. Only drawback is that the subwoofer must be relatively close to the receiver (~8 feet tops). It's a small price to pay.

Summary: clean bass, great balanced sound
Review: I recently upgraded to the AM6 model having retired my AM3 (with different rear speakers). I have read other reviews on other sites that claim this system won't rattle the walls - well, perhaps the contributor did not set up the system correctly. Place the AM module (bass module) FACING the wall, about 2-3" away and prepare yourself for enjoyment!
I think a lot of Home "Theaterphiles" prefer the "boomy" or "thumpy" bass - well, more power (no pun) to them! The Bose AM6 produces the kind of bass response I really like - smooth, pure and without the boxy thump some systems make.
The surround image is a delight and one can fiddle with the little speakers to create an image field to suit one's taste.
All in all, it is hard to beat the quality and versatility of this system.

Summary: Crisp, clean and high quality, but not loud enough
Review: I was lucky enough to find the Acoustamass 6 system at Sam's club coupled with JVC amplifier/tuner for a little less than you would pay for both if purchased separately. Bose lives up to their reputation for quality sound, but I found the system to be lacking in sheer ear-bleeding amplitude. The system can be run safely (100 W per channel) at maximum volume, but it simply doesn't get as loud as I think it should. Otherwise, I have no complaints about this fine product from Bose.
