Summary: CASH AND CARY
Review: Cary Elwes burst onto the cinematic screen years ago in the disarmingly funny THE PRINCESS BRIDE. Since then, he's surfaced in such films as THE CRUSH and COMIC BOOK VILLAINS. He's delightfully good in this off the wall comedy that is original in its concept and its delivery. Who would have ever thought Academy award nominee and straightlace Mary Steenburgen could play such a despicably bitchy con woman? She's brilliant as the money starved hussy who tricks Elwes into thinking she's having his baby and gets him to change his insurance policy to leave the child as his beneficiary. In steps the delightful Elaine Hendrix as the inept hit woman hired to dispose of Elwes. But, she finds herself falling in love with him and they concoct, along with the sinister Christopher Lloyd, a plan to turn the tables on Steenburgen and her doped up daughter (Tanya Allen). Add Robert Englund as a particularly weird "minister", Billy Ray Cyrus in a brief role as an insurance frauder, and Gene Simmons as a sadistic beautician, and you have one strange but wonderfully entertaining movie. Gerry Jingles as the waiter in the diner is superb too in a brief but memorable series of vignettes.
Granted, this is off the wall comedy and may not be for everybody but we certainly found it delightful!!!

Summary: Best comedy since The Big Lebowski
Review: Never disagreed so much on a film review than with the girl/woman who reviewed this film too.
To make a long story short: THIS FILM IS A ... MASTERPIECE. It's full of both ironic and sometimes ugly humour, all the way through. But if you like the films by the Coen brothers, and especially The Big Lebowski this is a film for you.
Best lines was (here I must trust upon memory as I saw it six months ago) something like:

(Ordinary voice): I guess you've never done it
(Nervous voice): I've done it
(Ordinary voice): So tell me how it smells...
(LONG PAUSE)
(Nervous voice): It smells like flowers and bees
(Shouting voice): DAMN WRONG YOU IDIOT!!! It smells like sweat, cheese and rotten fish!!!

This is one of the great moments in the film as 30 year old nervous, nerdy, naive and wimpy insurance man (played by Cary Elwes) is detected to be a VIRGIN by his working colleague. A situation soon to be taken advantage of by two trailer park [girls](mother and daughter), following a insurance fraud.

Even though I don't recall the storyline in detail, this is a film that made me laugh throughout. Hysterically at times. Like The Big Lebowski this is classic entertainment from the first to last second. And like that film it had great acting, great dialouge and great humour.

Except for the very narrow minded, the ones who can't stand irony or offensive humour, or the extreme sour ones, I'll just say to anyone who reads this:

BUY THIS CLASSIC TODAY!!! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!

Summary: A *Painfully* Bad Movie
Review: When I ordered this movie, I was looking forward to a Cary Elwes Movie I hadn't yet seen. I awaited the arrival of the DVD with anticipation.
Now I wish I hadn't ordered it..
This film ranks right up there as one of the worst movies I have ever seen and not walked out on. I wish I could wash my brain out in bleachwater and forget it all!
This film has single handedly made me question my own taste; Was I a fool to like Shakespeare, the poetry of Emily Dickenson, and Cary Elwes? Maybe.

I'm sure they were aiming for broad humor, but damn It fell nothing but flat, and it left me squirming in embarrasment for each and every actor.
The Director should be pilloried. Every actor in it indulges in broad over acting worthy of your local amature theater, and as a stage play, it might have worked.
Maybe, but I have my doubts.

Not only did the director have everyone in this film overacting horribly, but the costume and makeup designers made sure they all looked as horrible as possible while doing it.
Watch the Previews available on the web.
Each actor actually lookes pretty good in the preview, compared to th film itself. The Moustache Cary Elwes he wears in this film...I cannot begin to verbalize my horror. And the hair. And the Toupees. The list goes on and on.

I suspect most of the actors in this film did it as a favor to somebody- maybe the Director, since she seems to have been the casting director on a lot of projects.
I don't know, but I suspect all of them ended up feeling very badly betrayed and embarrased by this project.

Ok, Have I ranted enough? Maybe not.
Please, even if you are in desperate need of a Cary fix, Stay away.
Watch "Lady Jane", "The Princess Bride" or "The Crush".
Heck, if you like war films, watch "Glory", but if you want to be able to enjoy these films without horrifying images of Cary in a Walrus moustach and oversized 1980' throwback spectacles popping to mind and ruining the experience, then stay far, far away from this video.
