Rating: Summary: A sort of poor man's Pulp Fiction. Review: Make that, a sort of _very_ poor man's Pulp Fiction in fact. A film about gangsters and other shady characters in a multiple/ intersecting plot with disjoint time lines. What more do you need to know except that this one is nothing like as good a film as Pulp Fiction? The script and the acting were of a standard that you would expect from a soap opera that had been around for too long. Did the film have any redeeming qualities? Well, I laughed at one joke and that seemed to be quite a good one. But, that is not enough to make the whole film worthy.
Rating: Summary: Two Days in the Valley Review: This is a really good movie, with an unbelievable cast and a brilliant plot! The music soundtrack is also very good, and there is not a bad scene in the movie! I just can't understand why nobody has seen this film! Here we have a variety of bizarre characters (highlights were Danny Aiello, James Spader, Charlize Theron, and Jeff Daniels) who stumble into each other's lives. The director threw in a lot of little interesting quirks, such as the murderous assassin smirking as he watches a cop sight down the barrel of a watergun, or a spiteful old man who we came to hate earlier slinking out of a Japanese pleasure house in the dead of night. (Another interesting thing for me about the movie is to watch for the manner in which every character's name is given as the plot unfolds. ALL of them are named at least once somewhere in the film!) The movie is very well written and very interesting, and if there is any problem whatsoever, it would have to be that at times the dialogue becomes a bit laborous and unrealistic. (Sometimes, it appears that the characters are explaining what's going on to the audience, rather than conversing with the other characters.) Nevertheless, this is a trite point, and distracts none at all from the movie's enjoyment. And although Two Days in the Valley has been called a "Tarantino rip-off", I think this is because, like in many Tarantino films, we get to see famous actors playing in roles that we are not accustomed to seeing them in.
Rating: Summary: An awesome movie--- James Spader was GREAT Review: "2 days in the Valley" really made an ensemble cast work! The characters were great and we could follow each one of them really well. Besides the really unique, gripping, twistedly funny and smart plot, James Spader gave an awesome performance from the beginning to the end.
Rating: Summary: Curiously entertaining and definitely watchable Review: Hard to say quite why this movie works, but it does. Wry dialogue, cleverly drawn characters, well-devised plot, a sense of comic oddness throughout. Certainly, there is a touch too much of Mr Tarantino about it, but it holds your attention to the end. Very fine acting, apart perhaps from the priggish Englishman.
Rating: Summary: Pulp Fiction for the Valley Girls and Guys Review: I agree that Charlize Theron was amazing in her star quality, easily eclipsing that of Teri Hatcher. And I also agree that Spader has a gift of introducing some beautiful actress to the world by having sex with her on screen. As a whole, all of the characters are laughably airheaded, and the sentiments are laughably maudlin, and the plot laughably contrived. But it's entertaining, and worth renting.
Rating: Summary: Nice! Review: Wow Charlize Theron is so sexy! Her legs are to die for and this movie proves it! See it just to view her wonderful body in the buff!
Rating: Summary: A GREAT FLICK, A MUST SEE! Hatcher Rules! Review: This movie was a great murder movie, full of supense and great actors. Teri Hatcher and Charlize Theron are excellent. The fight between the two of them is brilliant, and the climax of the movie was very exciting. James Spader was excellent in his role, and has proven to be a very versatile actor. In fact, everyone in the movie was great. Maybe they could have spent a little more time developing the characters, but it didn't really matter. Teir Hatcher And James Spader were the best. Their best films yet!
Rating: Summary: Poor. Review: Movies like this remind me that Quentin Tarantino has had far too much influence for his own good. The film is dull and poorly scripted, with bland characters and an unfulfilled aspiration to hipness. I'll give that it has an occasional stylish moment, and an occasional funny line, but most of the "style" seems contrived and forced and the majority of the laughs, for me, were unintentional. Although you have to give it to James Spader -- I don't think he *will* make a movie unless he is going to be having sex with one of the attractive female leads at some point. The theory holds true here, in a terribly unnecessary and out-of-place sex scene. Don't get me wrong, though, it was one of the few scenes I enjoyed.
Rating: Summary: Watch this movie! Review: A viewer from germany can choke on a sausage. Because this movie definitely isn't worth 5 stars. A five star movie is one that you can watch over and over and over again without ever getting tired of it. The Blues Brothers is a 5 star movie. But, 2 Days in the Valley is definitely a 4 star movie and that is something that should not be shunned. Watch it!
Rating: Summary: very entertaining Review: Actually, i would give this film four stars but because of these brainless jerks below me i have to give it five. This is not the best flick of all times and this is not a remake of pulp fiction. This is an well made, entertaining movie with brilliant actors and a solid screenplay.
