Summary: An Enjoyable Film
Review: 15 Minutes is one of the films in New Line's Infinifilm series, and it was packed with extras. It was a good movie, but not good enough to send me racing to the special features. It's funny - since I send most of the DVDs I get out to people on our review panel, I often don't get to spend the time with each DVD that I want to. For me, a mark of a great movie is one where I sit down and 'devour' the special features, even if it means a late night. Recently the two movies which I've watched 'cover to cover' left me wanting more - O' Brother Where Art Thou and Unbreakable.

15 Minutes reminded me a lot of Die Hard, where the hero is a good guy in the right place at the wrong time. Ed Burns does a great job as the 'Bruce Willis Guy' and just reinforces my feeling that casting agents should look to actors like him BEFORE going with Ben Affleck, who just doesn't have the range to carry the roles he's been given. One of the great things about 15 Minutes is that it doesn't beat you over the head at every turn. [Geoffrey Kleinman DVDTalk.com]

Summary: Welcome to the Real World
Review: Reality television has exploded onto television ever since the advent of "Survivor." As you watch episodes of the Real World on MTV, you come to realize that the people are anything but "real." They're overblown portrayals of themselves, caricatures of what we perceive to be real. Apparently, the price of fame is one's dignity.

15 minutes is a savage satire about this phenomenon - the "reality-but-not-really" bug. The premise starts off simple enough. Two foreigners come to America looking for the American dream - wealth, success, and most importantly, fame. Things go arye, and an involved and clever plot ensues. At times, the point feels too forced, too blunt, even by satirical standards. Yet, there isn't a moment where I didn't think that anything in the film was implausible. Anyone of the Jerry Springer rejects is capable of such actions.

One of the more profound movies of the year, I found myself thoroughly engrossed. Worth at least a rental.

Summary: The Truth About the Fight for Justice....and Ratings.
Review: I am a huge Robert De Niro fan and when this came out I saw it because it had suspense and action, and Robert De Niro. But after seeing it, it got me thinking and I realized how this movie relayed a provocative message about how degrating our society is. This message was mostly portrayed by Kelsey Grammer's character. He went so far as to show real people being murdered on TV just to get ratings. And I'm sure there are TV broadcasters out there who would actually show that on TV too if they got the oppertunity. This is a great movie for action fans and for all people to be reminded just how pathetic people are sometimes.

Summary: Best movie of 2001
Review: To me, 15 Minutes is true brilliant filmmaking. It's haunting, suspenseful, and masterfully crafted.

John Herzfeld has made good on the promise of another great film after the quite good TWO DAYS IN THE VALLEY. His direction never falters at a single time during the movie and he creates a level of suspense and intrigue that I haven't seen in a long time.

The acting too is very fine. De Niro gives his always good performance as the working guy who's seen it all and Ed Burns is very good as the young fire marshall. Herzfeld's linking of the police and fire department is quite inventitive as well. I cannot remember the name of the two actors that played the killers, but they are terrific. The "director" is massive and brutally scary while the mastermind is a true sociopathical villian. He registers a sort of terror and scariness that is missing from so many villians and can't even be found in a James Bond film anymore. Kelsey Grammar is also very slick as the smarmy Hard Copy-esque tabloid news personality. As a student in the field of Broadcast Journalism, it's very interesting to see him deliver the traditional lines that every newscaster says including the very old and very famous, "If it bleeds, it leads."

The story about two killers trying to get their fifteen minutes of fame so they can make money once they get out of prison is very smart and moves at a hell of a pace right up to the great ending. Herzfeld proves that not only can he direct, but he can deliver snappy banter and many, many short bursts of great smart-ass dialog.

I really love this film and can say without a doubt that unless you are extremely squeemish when it comes to blood, you will like this film. It's quick, well-written, directed, and acted, and very refreshing. I enjoyed it all the way through and will definitely buy it on DVD when it comes out. In fact, I'll probably be one of the dorks waiting in the early morning before the stores open, so please don't throw your coffee at me.

Summary: Misunderstood
Review: If you go into this movie just for a good time, you'll probably enjoy it. Sure, it's message is tired but Robert DeNiro and Edward Burns give very entertaining performances. A lot of people think movies that want to make a statement need to be straight drama. What about A Clockwork Orange? Well, anyway, 15 Minutes is a good rental if you're up for some fun.

Summary: Somebody is going to get it!
Review: Is it good or bad when you know one of the main characters in a movie is about meet his maker. Why is it as soon as you tell someone you love them, you get offed. Not very original after the 500th time. This movie was entertaining if predictable. The actors did their job. The stunt people and special effects people did their job. The story wasn't bad. The problem was a B director trying to direct A talent. The movie just misses, but it is not bad. Good popcorn movie.

Summary: Not even worth 15 Minutes of your time
Review: This movie's so-called commentary on media and fame makes about as much sense as a bar room brawl. Heavy-handed direction, trite dialogue and poor performances. Will someone please tell Ed Burns he can't act!

Don't waste 15 Minutes of your life to watch this! BUYER BEWARE!

Summary: Pretty silly
Review: Extreme suspension of disbelief is a must if you want to enjoy this movie. It has: * A silly premise * Ridiculous situations and character reactions * VERY good good-guys and VERY bad bad-guys * A downright cornball ending

If you're in a good mood you may enjoy it as you will be laughing most of the time...

Summary: great message, not-so-great performance
Review: Films of this kind (maybe a little better) should be compulsory for high school kids. The message this film carries is extremely powerful: the impact of media on our every-day lives and motivations. Unfortunately, a lot remains to be desired to make this a great movie. Two main characters (de Niro and Burns) have failed to deliver the quality expected of their names and despite excellent performance of the two villains (Roden and Taktarov), the movie lacks the necessary ingredients. Nevertheless, it's worth seeing if for nothing else, than at least for purely educational purposes.

Summary: COME ON, IT'S NOT SO BAD !!!
Review: This is not so bad. The chemistry between De Niro and Burns works perfectly. THe only weak part is the ludicrous final sequence ( the old cliche of the bad guy taking the main female character as hostage, pointing a gun at her head, was a joke ...) De Niro dying (without playing a villain) was a strong idea. All in all, a good movie to be seen at home, in video or DVD.
