Summary: Disappointing
Review: I was so disappointed in this movie, and I'm the kind of person who enjoys most movies. Perry and Campbell didn't have any on-screen chemistry that I could see. I kept waiting for a really funny line or romantic moment, but neither came. Perry should stick to TV. I will say this...Campbell carried the movie, but not enough that I'd ever recommend it to anyone!

Summary: Sweet, but not sickeningly so.
Review: I really enjoyed this movie. It's funny, and the romance is practical rather than sappy. It's nice to see that somebody appreciates the fact that even puking can be romantic.

Summary: Charming, but get TOOTSIE instead
Review: THREE TO TANGO won't leave most people unsatisfied. It's pleasant enough. The acting evokes the emotions the script called for. Campbell and Perry are utterly charming together, and you easily find yourself wanting to see them in every scene. The absolute worst that can be said about the leads' acting, in fact, is that at times Perry seems to be doing an imitation of himself on FRIENDS. But even that has its charms (if you like FRIENDS).

No, my problem with this movie is exactly what the Amazon editorial review points out: it's obviously TOOTSIE redone. But, comically, there's less to a man being mistaken for a homosexual than a man being mistaken for a woman. With TOOTSIE, a lot of the humor came from the transformation of Michael Dorsey into Dorothy Michaels. There was a sense of danger at times that his cover might be blown. Here, there's no transformation of any kind, no danger that Perry's worlds might collide. There's simply the irrefutable statement, "I'm gay." The only injury that can come to Perry's lie is if he inflicts it himself. And this is basically what the movie is about: Perry's search for the moment when he can come out of the closet and thereby get the girl.

Amazon's editorial writer found this "borderline offensive", and here I have to part company with him. I'm not sure why Perry's view of his "homosexuality" as a burden would be "offensive". Of course he's taxed by it: it's a lie, and it's preventing him from being with the one he loves. I think the script makes fairly clear that homosexuality itself isn't some onerous duty.

No, the real weight THREE TO TANGO has to carry is, like any remake, its similarity to the original. There, it fails to compare to TOOTSIE by almost every standard of measurement. It's nowhere near as funny or poignant as its predecessor. Its supporting cast collapses into mere caricature by the end. The musical score leaves a comparative lot to be desired. And the finale itself is very much more pat and expected than TOOTSIE's.

To put it more succinctly: if you've never seen TOOTSIE you'll probably enjoy this movie a lot more than if you have.

[DVD notes: Save yourself some money and get it on VHS; there's nothing to this DVD worth getting.]

Summary: A good movie despite its themes.
Review: This movie was very entertaining. The charade of Perry pretending to be gay to win a construction contract provides many humorous situations and I kept wanting Neve Cambell to find out the truth. Perry is great in the movie and combined with Cambell they make a great pair. McDermott is kind of wasted in his roll. He is there just to set up Perry and Cambell.

The gay theme of this movie might be objectionable to some people. The movie tries to put the shoe on the other foot by making a straight man see the world through the eyes of a gay person. The movie does this well and uses the scenario for some great comedy.

Now, I am a person who thinks homosexuality is wrong and believe there is no gray area on the issue. Still, I was able to overlook my beliefs to enjoy the movie for what it was. Anyone with my beliefs should enjoy this movie as well.

Summary: wonderful.
Review: The plot of three to tango wasn't that great (boy meets meets man, man thinks boy is homosexual, sends boy to spy on girl, boy falls in love with girl, boy can't get girl because a. all think boy is gay b. girl is with man, who is boy's boss, problems occur) but i was amazed by the acting. the sweetness of the movie on the couch (those who have seen it know what i mean), that is one of my favorite movie moments of all time. and when after oscar wins the award (his speech) my eyes were watering.

I love this movie. it's the perfect romantic comedy for a rainy day (although many wouldn't agree)

Summary: Comedy-Lite
Review: I doubt anyone will ever come out of the movie theatre or will finish watching this in the VCR, and say 'this is the greatest film I've ever seen' or ' One of my top 10 films'.

I also doubt many people will come out of this film saying 'this is really bad', unless they were insulted by the treatment of Gays in this film, or by the it's lack of inteligence.

Three to Tango is Comedy-Lite: It might be offensive, a little, but the message is liberal. It's not really funny, but often amusing. It's never emotionally powerful, but the characters are mostly sympathetic. The story and the script aren't powerful or exciting, but it's never dull.

Three to Tango is OK. It can be amusing, it's a reasonably entertaining way to kill 2 hours. It's amusing, it's satisfactory.

The acting is pretty good, especially by Chandler (no, I mean Mathew Parry - but will he ever play someone DIFFERENT from Chandler?) and the guy who plays his gay partner. Dylan McDermot wasn't very impressive, but he's not on screen much. Neve Campbell was fine.

This film is mediocracy in full - it's an OK film. You'll enjoy it, but you'll never think about it again ten seconds after you've left the cinemma or turned off the TV.

Summary: Laughs'n'Love
Review: For once the USAmericans have succeeded in making a movie in which the subject of homosexuality is nearly treated as something normal. Basicly, though, this gay thing is only an excuse to make a love comedy. The excuse does not really work - but the comedy does!

Summary: Very Good.
Review: I thought this movie was very good. Oscar (Perry) is partners with a friend Peter as being an architect. Charles hires them and word goes around that Oscar is gay, which he is not,and that Peter is straight, which he is not. Charles asks Oscar to watch his Mistress,Amy (Neve C.),thinking Oscar couldn't possible be of any harm because he is gay and wouldn't even think of getting with Amy. Oscar, not gay, falls in love with Amy after the first night he spent with her and loves her more and more every moment they spend together. Word really gets around that Oscar is gay, which he is not,and the word is published in the newspaper..soon after men start hitting on him! This goes on througout the movie..Charles,Amy,and everyone else thinking Oscar is gay. Amy also falls in love with Oscar but thinks she is so stupid because she 'knows' he is gay. This movie,i think,is very cute. It's a good movie to just sit and watch but,you may laugh, you may cry. I recommend this movie.
