Summary: Not quite like being there
Review: After anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Broadway version of Victor/Victoria, my disappointment was the sound quality...or lack of it. The orchestra overpowered everyone, even Julie Andrews and diminished my emotional involvement in the music considerably. Just as it is difficult to translate dance to television and retain the essence of the joy of dance, so it is with Broadway. The two dimensions leave out so much.

It was my pleasure to see the Broadway production right before Miss Andrews left it. It was a night of theater I cherish. I am grateful we have a record of it, even if flawed. In his defense, Tony Roberts acting was a greater joy live than with the camera close-ups of this production. Rachel York was likewise hilarious live.

If the sound had been mixed more professionally, the camera angles would not have been as distracting.

Summary: A "Must Have" for Julie Andrews Fans
Review: First of all, this is an EXCELLENT brodayway show! It cannot be just like the 1982 movie because people wouldn't go and see it. The acting is pretty good and most people dissed Julie Andrews on her acting, but remember she was older in this production and I thought she did an excellent job. The rest of the cast, Tony Roberts, Rachel York, and Michel Nouri do an excellent job. Bravo to Rachel York for doing an Excellent job playing Norma! There is more songs and dance then the 1982 movie and they do leave out the "Shady Dame from Saville" that was the only thing that I thought they should have put in the this production. All in all, one heck of a show! IT made me laugh, until I was almost crying! If you in Doubt, don't be. It is good and I suggest it to everyone! Also, you will the the intro Julie Andrews does before the show starts and at intermission!

Summary: Gracias Julie
Thanks Julie.

Summary: Julie's Last Triumph
Review: I am thrilled that this production,Julie's first appearance on Broadway for thirty years is now to be captured forever.Filmed at the Marquis Theatre,it boasts the entire original cast, before Julie was first replaced by Liza Minnelli, then by Raquel Welch. This was a stellar production and director Blake Edwards brought out all the fun and frolic of the film version in all its gaudy glory.

Summary: GET THE DVD...IT IS TOTALLY AWESOME!
Review: I do realize that I said awesome and then I gave it only 4 stars. This production is very good and very entertaining, but I would have to say that the storyline is not too much to be interested in. It is a fun show though. I do like some of the musical numbers. I love Victor/Victoria at the end of the show and I like Le Jazz Hot. Le Jazz Hot is probably the highlight of the show, but it is WAYYYYY different than the movie version. Some of the qualities that Julie had in her voice in this song kind of annoyed me though...I KNOW...I LOVE HER TOO, but she was singing oddly. I would suggest that all theatre lovers by this film. It is great to see because it gives you a complete sense of being there. The DVD is perfect and is flawless in picture and sound!

Review: I HAD THE CHANCE TO VIEW THIS WONDERFULL PLAY LAST NIGHT. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE PROFORMANCE THAT MS. ANDREWS DID IN THIS PLAY. I HAVE NEVER SEEN HERE LIVE BEFORE SHE WAS EXCELLENT IN THIS. THIS VIDEO OF HER PROFORMANCE IS A MUST FOR ANYONE WHO LIKES MS. ANDREWS AND WHO HAS NEVER SEEN HER BEFORE LIVE ON STAGE.

Summary: Always a great show!
Review: I love this musical...I bought the DVD thinking it was the movie-I was in for a surprise! The stage version is a bit different than the movie, but great nontheless. Julie Andrews is always a treat to watch, and it's neat to see a stage performance of something you love. I really liked this DVD. Anyone who likes musicals and won't be offended by a little "off-color" humor will like 'Victor/Victoria'.

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST
Review: I saw this show on Broadway. It is refreshing to see an American Musical Comedy again. My first show was the orriginal Annie Get Your Gun. I have seen most of the musicals since then. I find this show at the top of my list for having a great time in the theatre. This DVD captures the fun and talent involved and it is a pleasure to watch and enjoy time after time.
