Based on a manga by Akitaka Tajima, this 1991 sword-and-sorcery OVA centers on a spikey haired cyborg or "gimmick." Madara travels with the man he believes is his grandfather as itinerant blacksmiths, but when they battle an army of werewolves, he discovers he's really the son of the demonic lord Miroku. To defeat his evil father, Madara must join forces with Kageo, his stillborn twin brother, whom Miroku has somehow kept around. There are far too many characters for a two-hour adventure, all of them underdeveloped. The plethora of effects includes tentacled monsters, explosions, life energy made physical, a journey through the "portal of time," and a neverending series of bloody sword fights. But all the characters and gore don't add up to a coherent story, and the result is a violent, muddled mess.
