Summary: A MUST SEE
Review: I can't believe how anyone can talk bad about this movie.
This movie is why I lived in New Mexico for 5 weeks recently.
To travel and see the OLD WEST.
After having read about it I know that some of the facts are bent. Well, IT'S A MOVIE.
Its called Entertainment.
All of the actors had their special moments, the dialog was well writen and sometimes humorous.
The tension between the brothers(emilio and charlie s.) in real life's characters, Billy and Dick Brewer were very convincing. I believe Dick called Billy a little rodent and certainly meant it.
Dirty Steve was just soooooo dirty, it was gross, but right on.
When Chavez admitted to putting a knife to Dirty Steves throat everynight, ... They don't show that part on TV!
YOu can tell the bond between these boys and feel for how they got themselves into this situation.
But like I said- It's just a movie, it's HOLLYWOOD.
And darned it, it's entertaining!
A note about costumes,With one scene being rather cold outside, I wonder how they managed to stay WARM in those rags???
It isn't always balmy in New Mexico in the winter.

Summary: Best movie on Billy the Kid
Review: I love this movie about Billy the Kid and his gang of Regulaters. Every one knows of the story and history of Billy the Kid and the mystery if he did or didn't die or lived to a ripe old age.(my opinion is that he lived to a ripe old age). Emilio Estevez played the part of Billy perfectly I think he did a great job. I don't watch westerns alot but this was one I really enjoyed so check it out.

Summary: GREAT MOVIE
Review: I love this movie and its sequal YOUNG GUNS 2, I enjoy reading stuff like unsolved mysteries, ghosts ufo's, bigfoot and things like that plus I have allway been interested in BILLY THE KID and the mystery of if he did or didn't get shot by Pat Garrett and did he live to a ripe old age. The truth is that we just don't know what happened. Sure you can read old newspapers and talk to people who may or may not know his family or relatives(if any) but unless you were personly there you just don't know. Anyway I enjoyed the movie and I feel that Emillio Estevez fit the part of Billy the Kid. I highly recommened this movie.

Summary: A great movie
Review: I love this movie more every time I watch it. It has some really good actors (Estevez, Sutherland, and Sheen)in it. Plus a very good plot which was getting even with Murphy for murdering Tunstall. I really like the movie and it should be a must see on everyones list.

Summary: A decent movie with a great cast.
Review: I saw this movie when it first came out back in 1988, and recently saw it again for the first time. The movie has not aged well, as the video and audio quality(on the DVD) are decidedly inferior. However, the film is somewhat entertaining, and the cast (especially Charlie Sheen) is excellent. If you are looking for a decent, light movie to watch, you should look into this film. However, it is certainly not on par with some of the great westerns.

Summary: A flick from the 80's that didn't age so well
Review: In 1988, when I first saw this movie as a teen I was blown away by it all loving every minute of this slightly revisionist Western with the coolest cast (at that time) assembled solely to appeal to like minded folks in my demographic grouping. Watching it again some 15 years on DVD the luster has definitely been lost and, 'Young Guns,' comes across more as a late 80's popcorn action cheezefest, albeit still a somewhat enjoyable one. But enough of that. For those who have yet to see it or haven't seen it in years you'll still find a good deal of enjoyment within the flick as long as you go in with the expectation that this is a 'Western-lite' geared for a teen audience.

NOTE: If you do puchase this disc make sure that you get the 'Special Edition' version that was released in Feb. 2004. The earlier version was released back in the late 90's and as a result the menu designs and production quality of the disc itself is somewhat archaic. Worst of all, it doesn't even have a Dolby 5.1 Audio mix to it.

Summary: It's Fun. . .And That's About It
Review: Made more to showcase a covey of young hunks than to tell a viable story, YOUNG GUNS blazes across the screen like a lead bullet from a six-shooter. Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Charlie Sheen, Dermot Mulroney, and Casey Siemaszko (who actually brings depth to his character) portray the "Regulators"--led by Estevez as an annoying Billy the Kid--a band of vigilantes that likes to shoot first, and ask questions later.

The movie has its moments--some witty dialogue, a good dose of pulse-pounding action--but overall it's an exercise in silliness. Jack Palance is a wonderful villain (as usual), and crusty Brian Keith appears in the film's best scene, but the movie is like a ten-year-old on a sugar rush: pure, unleashed energy without purpose or direction.

YOUNG GUNS is entertaining, but isn't meant to be taken seriously, only viewed as a superficial Western meant to launch a handful of careers.

Summary: Young Guns
Review: Many may not look at this as one of the greats when they think about great movies but to me they are great.I was never into western type films and still am not a big western fan but for some reason i could watch Young Guns 1 and 2 over and over and love it each time,I guess its just all the elements combined that i like,Its got the western setting for people who like that, its got comical parts, serious parts, and its based on the real life billy the kid. Both movies were lots of fun to watch and i already bought the DVD's as i feel my collection could never be complete without the Young Guns series. In my opinion its a classic that was overlooked or forgotten about by many

Summary: Young Guns
Review: Maybe Marshall Fine ought to READ a little of the Billy the Kid and Lincoln County war history before condeming something he obviously knows nothing about. His high point, the "old reprobate" character of John Henry Tunstall (played by Terrance Stamp), was a actually a young Englishman and considered to be "open, sincere and public spirited," before he was murdered by the Murphy-Dolan faction, which initiated the Lincoln County war. No, the movie is not historically acurate and does make use of brat pack "star" types to play the roles in question. What do you expect from Hollywood? Other than that, they are strong actors and do a good job with the script they had to work with.
