Rating: Summary: A book Re-considered Review: Initially, upon reading this book one is struck by the sparseness of content and sense of vagueness; compared to non-photography books this can prove disappointing. However, compared to other books in this area, it is actually quite a wonderful book. Photography books, particularly those published by Amherst Media, tend to be sparse in content and there are far worse books one could purchase on Portrait Photography. Sparseness is actually brevity in the case of this book. An excellent book for the portrait photographer.
Rating: Summary: WHAT IS A HANDBOOK ? Review: PEOPLE MIGHT EXPECT TO FIND IN A HANDBOOK THE ESSENTIAL AND PRACTICAL NOTIONS FOR CURRENT SITUATIONS.THIS HANDBOOK CONTAINS EXCELLENT ILLUSTRATIVE MATERIAL THAT ARE FINE ART.
THE AUTHOR'S OUTDOOR PORTRAITS AND STUDIO LOW KEY IMAGES ARE AMAZING. HE DESCRIBES EACH TECHNICAL DETAIL BRILLIANTLY, TRYING TO TEACH WHAT IS QUITE NOT SO EASY TO PUT IN PRACTICE. AT LEAST, AT DAYLY WORK.AND SURELY, NOT FOR EVERYONE.
I MUST SAY ONCE AGAIN I LOVED THE BOOK. IT IS ALMOST PERFECT, ONLY THE WORD " HANDBOOK " SEEMS TO ME " OUT OF FOCUS ".
