Review: This is an inspiring collection of great images with engaging tales taken from interviews with some of the world's leading designers, talking about their work.
The interviews get inside the design process and act as an inspirational guide on how leading creative minds answer their briefs and produce great work. The interviews also contain a variety of views of the state of British creativity.
Not all the designers are British. A fair number are from a variety of countries (The USA, China, Poland, for example) but have come to Britain (and London especially) because at the moment it's THE place to be for design creativity.
Products examined vary from the wobbly millennium bridge to cutlery design, from the high engineering of the Rolls Royce trent engine to the more instinctive of glasses, clothes and even pepper pots.
The writing is seductive and the photography wonderful.
A great book for any library, and a fascinating coffee table book. If you have an interest in design and how it works, and how it can be applied to your own life, home, or profession, I couldn't recommend this book more highly.
