Review: Bill Lemon does it right. Its a simple, and easy to read book on photographing women. It covers positions and lighting that work consistantly. Nice diagrams and examples with enough text to inform. Should be in every photographers library.

Review: Bill Lemon's second book is a joy to read, and a great source of information for begining and advanced photographers. The book is loaded with lighting diagrams, helpful tips about exposure, locations, props and makeup. But, the real strength of the book is Bill's ability to pose a model for the most attractive image. He attends to every detail. Each image in the book is powerful, and stands on its own merits. The written commentary that accompanies each image is a bonus that helps the reader understand what Bill was trying to achieve. The commentary also helped me learn some of the important details that Bill regularly attends to in each image he creates. Photography is all light and shadow. While some photographers use complex, multiple lighting setups to achieve their "look", Bill keeps it simple. Many of his images are created with available light, or simple one light setups with a fill reflector. I found the book visually stunning, especially satisfying on a technical level, and instructionally effective. A worthwhile addition to my photography library.

Review: I just received Bill Lemon's newest book on Nude and Beauty Photography and I will have to say I am impressed with it! Bill knows how to get the best out of a model and show her asets in a way that is very flattering and classic. And then he is able to reduce the process and art to a very easily understood format. It was about four years ago that I took one of Bill's courses on glamour photography and it was one of the highlights of my career in photography as a serious amatuer. If you ever have the opportunity to take one of his courses, jump at the chance. You will not be disappointed. And if you are unable to do that then I would recommend that you buy this book today. It will give you an idea of his work and it will help you in achieving your goals. And certainly the price is very reasonable for the content!

This book is full of exceptional images illustrating outstanding lighting techniques and beautiful models posed in flattering ways.

This book is more then just beautiful people and well-lit sets. There is substance here as well. "Nude & Beauty Photography" is full of instruction, inspiration and creative tips. Each setup is outlined in a narrative, with lighting graphics and equipment/film details. The reader can learn tips on posing, camera angles, composition, lighting, selecting models and much more.

Bill Lemon knows his craft and illustrates it with provocative and creative images. Further, he knows how to explain his techniques in ways that are understandable to average photographer. He gives you just the right balance between instruction and enjoyment. If you?re just a 'looker' or want to be a 'learner' I can highly recommend "Nude & Beauty Photography".

Summary: Balancing The Art & Science of Nude Photography
Review: My shipment of books arrived to great anticipation because after 15 years of shooting professional travel photography I wanted some reference books to help provide inspiration for photographing nudes. Of the five I ordered, unfortunately, this book left me wanting more. While going into detail about lighting, posing and technique, once you've seen a few pages you've got the entire book. First, know that it's entirely in B&W--not bad for nude photography, except Mr Lemon notes that many of the images were originally shot in color. Also if you eventually want to sell your images you need to shoot color. If you're new to using flash or don't understand basic lighting concepts this book could help, but advanced amateurs and pros will bore quickly.

Summary: Great detail book on technique he uses
Review: This book is one of the best ones on this subject that I have read. Bill Lemon takes you through a series of several photographs and for each one he details what he did and how he did it. The details are complete with not only the camera and film information, but also the details of the lighting, angles, custom development, model selection and posing information. This is an excellent book to read through and study in order to expand your understanding of model photography. By including all of the details and what the photographer was thinking and what he would do different after studying the results it provides a great deal of good information from a talented photographer. It is great study in how to apply the techniques of lighting, camera settings and posing to get the results that you want. If you want some detail knowledge or have studied lighting and posing and similar areas but are having trouble putting it all together into a comprehensive whole then this book is for you. My only complaint is that it is too short and I would have loved even more examples of his work.

Review: This is a great book with beautiful photographs. Bill Lemon does a good job of explaining the techniques and thought processes that went into the creation of each of the images.

In comparison to other books available on nude and glamour photography, there is not better book. Bill Lemon does an excellent job of discussing a sensitive topic.

Although the book focuses on black and white photography, don't be discouraged if you are only interested in color work. Bill Lemon's techniques apply just as readily to color work.

Unfortunately, the book is not as in-depth as I would have liked (thus, the 4 stars). In addition, it should be noted that the book is geared toward intermediate to advanced photographers as he does not spend time discussing the basics of photography.

Overall, a great resource.
