Rating: Summary: Average book from what I've expected. Review: Basically this book is all images and maybe 5,6 pages of interviews with some designers. This is definately not a commercial graphic design book, but it is more of their personal pieces. Only reason I gave a 3 stars is because, to me it wasn't very fresh enough to be a 2003 book, and named Contemporary American Graphic Design. I see many similar designs and styles in books from my local library which pretty old like mid to late 90's.
Rating: Summary: A most impressive collection of visual delights!!! Review: The pages of this book are simply saturated with cutting edge artistic innovation graphically depicted in the most vibrant and varied colors. Try as I may, I can't seem to work my way through the entire book. Each turn of the page can give birth to an entirely different visual journey.Buy this book just for the index in the back which reads like a "best of the best" directory listing of graphic artists across the country if buying it merely for the sake of owning a gorgeous collection of current works by today's artists seems somehow too indulgent. It just might make you proud to be American... (even aesthetically.)
