Summary: NO, NO,NO -TOO MANY ERRORS AND MISINFORMATION
Review: Masquerading as a text on correctly using infrared, I found this book very poorly written, loaded with errors and containing amatuerish photographs. I felt ripped off. I will look for better written books on the subject. If I could have looked the book over ahead of time, I never would have purchased it.

Summary: UNIMAGINATIVE PHOTOS & TOO MANY USELESS CHARTS
Review: Not a very good book. Some useful information, but too many charts that don't help you when you are out shooting and text that is redundant. Simply put, the author is not a very creative photographer. There are better infrared books on the market than this one. Save your money!

Summary: The bible for infrared photography
Review: Of all the books I have bought on photography this is only the second that I feel the author has given us the full extent of her knowledge. Something that I have found to be very rare in photography books. Most books I have read the author only touches the surface and does not go into any great detail on the subject. This is not the case with Infrared Photography Handbook. It starts at the basics and works its way gently into the very technical. Unfortunatley if you want to master the art of infrared photography you must get technical. While I am no genius I found by re-reading the sections that were difficult for me I was able to comprehend all of what the book had to say. Thanks Laurie for the great book

Summary: Semi-useful text
Review: Okay, the book provided me with some tips on how to do things, as well as a little information, but on the whole, I have to agree with others that it was a little too technical for the average user.

Summary: Excellent.
Review: The only book that really tells you how to shoot infrared. Easy to understand charts, diagrams and information. Just a great book on the subject. Other books don't come close.

Summary: A great book
Review: There is no book in photography that I think has as much heart as this one. The author really tried to deal with a subject that is little understood, and she has the expertise to deliver common sense and productive methods for getting results. No other book on infrared can clime to do that -- and none will do it nearly as well.

Summary: One of the most valuable books I've bought
Review: This book covers everything you need to know to succesfully shoot B&W IR. It is very easy to follow and has some extremely good examples. As with every aspect of photography, "The technical details are easy, the hardest part is developing a style" Andre Brook 1997. Once you have read this book you will want to buy the relatively cheap bits a pieces and make a start

Summary: TOO TECHNICAL & MISLEADING
Review: This book does more to disuade people from using infrared as another medium.Overly technical, complicates matters involving infrared film, which is not all that difficult to use. Also has factual errors and no info on flash photography with infrared. There are better, more comprehensive books on infrared that detail just how easy it can be to use this wonderful film, without complicating and contradictory information.Poor quality reproductions and uninteresting images too.Steer clear of this book!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent Book for Professional Photographers
Review: This book is quite technical and is not meant for amateur photographers who want to dabble with IR for a couple of rolls to play around with. For professionally trained photographer's, this book is the standard of excellence in IR. So I disagree with those who have given this book low rating reviews. But I understand why. It is a very technical book aimed at understanding the nuances of IR film.. When one thinks about it, without an understanding of a film's characteristic's you are just guessing no matter what the film type!!! Bravo for this important work!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Just what I needed.
Review: This book is technical. However, if you want to shoot IR film consistently, you can either understand the Energy Distribution of your light sources or you can waste half your film bracketing. A MUST READ if you are serious about B&W Infrared. J. Mullen
