Summary: The Leonardo of Natural History
Review: Fourth Book in the Art of Nature Series about a man whose only legacy is his art work. Ferdinand Bauer became a traveling painter, recording the plant life of Greece and Asia Minor. In 1801, at the age of forty one, he became a painter for the natural history expedition aboard the Investigator, which was mapping the coast of Australia. After you view this book I think that you will agree that his zoological illustrations are fantastic and justly famous. It has more than just botanical art. Birds, mammals and sea creatures!!!

Ferdinand Bauer was a bachelor and had no pupils: not even a portrait of him survives. His art is truly his legacy. After the publication of this book, I don't think this artist's work will continue in obscurity. Enjoy!!!
