Rating: Summary: The Authority Speaks Review: "The ability and willingness to reveal oneself to the world without shame or guilt is probably one of the greatest gifts a person can possess." So says David Ho in the preface to his book The Shadowmaker. That line alone makes this book worth buying. Shadowmaker not only showcases the tremendous talent that Mr. Ho is, but it also takes us into a journey into his mind and his soul. And it sure is one place that i would like to go back to again and again. This book serves not only to entertain, it inspires the artist inside of us. Shadowmaker is definitely one of the best purchases i've made in the past year.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant... Review: If you only buy one book this year invest your money in something truly brilliant. I was introduced to Mr. Ho's work after visiting his web site at [url]. I found within it's contents one of a kind awe inspiring illustrations that are unparralleled by anyone else today. His work is beautiful yet disturbing, fantastical yet brutally honest. It's like looking into the mysterious secret layers of the psyche, finding your raw emotions cringing in terror, yet too interesting to turn away. I recommend this book to anyone with an interest in art, psychology, and...ah just buy it! It's the most original book I own. A masterpiece.
Rating: Summary: this book is a WOW ! Review: there is a reason this book is getting only 5 star ratings ,it is magnificent. David Ho's work is dark ,mesmerizing and thought provoking. His talent is unbelievable ,shocking almost. if you need inspiration as to what you can do creating art on a computer ,this book is for you.there is a chapter where he explains his methods and this is very helpful ,but it is the amazing art that will keep you coming back again and again to this book.
Rating: Summary: a must see Review: This art book is fantastic. The artwork is compelling and intriguing. When perusing the pages, I find myself at a thought-provoking window into the many facets of humanity. The artist is talented and has a most original style. Most of my friends were extremely impressed when they took a look at my copy. You'll find yourself thinking about the pieces within the book for a long time afterwards... and quite possibly you'll find yourself relating to them. The techniques chapter is very interesting, since I was curious as to how such works of art were created. And although I've never read Dante's Inferno (I should huh?), the series of works based on the classic were still enthralling. Shadow Maker delves deeply into the human mind and heart. Highly recommended.

Rating: Summary: Shadows of ourselves.... Review: This book is a must have for all fans of art and graphic design, especially of the darker side. You take a journey through one man's secret demons (well, not so secret anymore), visions of the world as he sees it. Through exquisite digital artwork, meticulously detailed and vividly textured, we are introduced to a realm that lies beyond the banality of this world. Included in this volume is a quick step by step guide so that you can create your own visions of hell or heaven. I highly recommend this book because every time I peruse its pages, I learn something new, not just about the author, but about my own demons.

Rating: Summary: Fantastic horrific art of the highest order Review: This book was my introduction to the art of David Ho, and within minutes, as I browsed through the pages, he joined the top ranks of my favorite artists of the fantastic -- Zdzislaw Beksinski, H. R. Giger, John Jude Palencar, and a few others. Amazon has a "see more pictures" option on this book, so check it out. You'll see why any lover of the dark fantastic will have to own this incredible art book.
Rating: Summary: Very good. Review: This is a very good art book. David Ho is an awesome artist. His works are dark, captivating and simbolic. The book is relativly long with lots of art in it and printed on the best quality paper i've seen in an art book to date.
Fans of 2d and 3d digital art, photomanipulation, and dark-themed art will want to pick this one up.
