Rating: Summary: Beautifully written, beautifully laid-out Review: Although rather voyeuristic in its concept, this book is a lovely scrapbook of the nuptials of America's most famous political family. The photographs are poignant and artful, and the text, while syncophantic, is illuminating with all sorts of wedding minutiae. The only error I've found in the book is the omission of Robin Lawford in the family tree at the front of the book; all other Kennedy cousins are present in the tree, but Robin must have flown the coop. You'll enjoy this book, if such books are your sort of thing.
Rating: Summary: Kennedy-o-Phile Bridal Consultant wants toknow.... Review: As a former bridal consultant and an avid reader of every book ever written about this American family, I enjoyed this beautiful book.....I was outside on the sidewalk at Kathleen Kennedy's wedding in 1973, and even filled in a reporter who wanted to know how to describe the bridesmaids dresses (he wrote down every word I said and then wrote more as I told him who each Kennedy was as they passed by ) and I have visited the churches in Hyannis and Centerville on Cape Cod where Maria Schriver and Caroline Kennedy were married....so ...my question is: did Victoria Lawford wear the very same dress as her sister Sydney wore (just changing the bodice ) thus doing the same "recycling" as her mother and Aunt Jean has done years before at their weddings ? Not an earth shattering question, of course, but just an observation....Sydney's gown was my favorite of all and it was just something I noticed !
Rating: Summary: A joyous book, loving, gorgeous and full of charm Review: As a long time admirer of the Kennedy's I really liked this book. The up til now unpublished photographs are wonderful... however I was left wondering why the "first" wives of all the Kennedy men were given no more than a nod.. most notable was Joan Bennett's wedding to Ted. A few pictures and little text were all that were afforded them. Perhaps there was not very much cooperation on the part of the ex Mrs. Kennedy's but for what ever reason is it jarring. Also Robin Lawford is shown and mentioned at her sister's weddings.. however in the family chart at the front of the book she is left out. Perhaps I am being picky about a book that shows us the good times in this family. The radiant brides and the handsome grooms on the happiest days of their lives are touching and memorable.
Rating: Summary: Highly Recommended Review: Here's a book of captivating photographs and stories about the wedding celebrations and private relationships of a very public American family. I found myself remembering special moments from weddings of my own friends and family. My wife and I were young newlyweds along with Jack & Jackie. You DO remember 'where you were when...' Reading this book together was a pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
