Rating: Summary: Addresses water beautifully Review: At last a book on the subject by a competent artist. The Ann Whaley book of the same title is pathetic, but this one is superb. The artist shows how to paint waterfalls, waves, exploding surf, and reflective pools. The only caveat is that she has a very different techniqe than the norm, utilizing small dry brush strokes to build up detail. This may not be what you are looking for in terms of technique, but the overall approach to painting water is useful. She is also intelligent and well read and her writing on the psychology and philosophy of painting is the best, most sensible and inspiring writing on the topic I've personally encountered.
