Rating: Summary: AMAZING Review: This book brought tears to my eys. It moved me more than any body of photographic work I've ever seen. The words and the pictures combine to pack a powerful wollop. Edwards book of September 11th images is also amazing.
Rating: Summary: Splendid Overview of Eugene Richards's work Review: This Phaidon 55 edition book is a splendid overview of Eugene Richards's work, stretching from his early days in Dorchester, an impoverished neighborhood in Boston, Massachussetts to recent work in New York City. Richards has depicted in photographs noted for their beauty as their brutality, some of the harsh realities in American life, reflected most notably in his classic monograph, "Cocaine True, Cocaine Blue". Without question, Eugene Richards is among the world's greatest fine art documentary photographers, passionate about the people and social issues he has documented. Noted Tucson, Arizona-based writer Charles Bowden provides an excellent overview of Richards's work and career.
