Rating: Summary: Walk down memory lane Review: a history enthusiastThis is a great book for anyone who has been down at the Jersey Shore. It is full of history and was a pleasure to read. Mr. Flynn and Mr. Bell are very talented writers and seem to get the inside scoop on the history where few others can.
Rating: Summary: An excellent journey through my hometown's history! Review: This book is well written, with excellent imagery. Anyone loving Ocean Grove, Asbury Park, New Jersey, Victorian History, or postcards should buy it! I highly reccomend reading it! I especially loved reading the notes penned a generation ago on the postcards as part of the captions, a point prospective readers should not miss.
Rating: Summary: Ocean Grove past resident and forever remaining fan Review: Whether you live here or visit, Ocean Grove has always had the charm and grace of a Jersey shore town. This book of postcards brings me back to a wonderful time that I can well remember, with the hotels and amusements as you stroll down the boardwalk going into Asbury Park, with the Casino and giant carosuel and the wonderful theaters, rides and boats that graced the lake between Asbury and Ocean Grove. I can well remember the salt water taffy and concession stands. Ocean Grove still stands as a lovely community with its summer tents and beautiful auditorium in the center of town, unique unto itself. Each page in the book takes you to a different area of town, and surprisingly, Ocean Grove stands today much the same in many areas of the community. Having lived there for many years, I can say it feels good to know that such a happy, close-knit community remains. I recommend buying the book to take a step back into wonderful memories. Kudos to both Mr. Flynn and Mr. Bell!
