Summary: In a word....
Review: CREEPY. The quality of photographs is fantastic but the style and images are unsettling. The diversity the author intends to celebrate ends up being carnivalesque when separated from the landscape and culture from which the people are born. Wade Davis' preface poetically and masterfully attempts to put this project into a useful, hopeful light, yet I couldn't get past a few photographs without feeling that by viewing the images, I was intruding upon and defacing the dignity of the people photographed. My negative emotional response to the photos kept me from reading the supporting text.
