Rating: Summary: Reality Interiors Review: "Frustration" is the feeling I had after reading Francisco Cerver's "Dream Interiors". The biggest disapointment came from the fact that "dream" is restricted to the name of the book! You can't find dream on its pages! The chapters are too many and too short, almost 100 chapters for about 190 pages. All very similar! The photographs don't help to show the interiors, mainly composed by european apartments, short spaces, corners and couliers. I missed gardens, beach houses, farm houses, etnic and mediterranean interiors. I missed the "dream interiors"! My dream never came true on those pages! The exception is the "Art nouveau Palace" chapter (very badly pictured unfortunately) where the building is the dream part. All the other chapters are absurdly poor! "Dream Interiors" is that kind of book that leaves you with the bad feeling of wasting US$ 38,00 (plus taxes and delivering) buying something that for U$3,00 you can find in "any" decoration magazine! It's definitely not what decoration book buyers are looking for! The single star goes to the beautiful hardcover edition!
Rating: Summary: Not impressive Review: Although decorated well, the homes picutred were not dream interiors. The pictures were poor in parts and the text uninspiring. I paid too much for so little.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely inspiring... Review: I love this book SO much that I had to double check to make certain I was reviewing the same book as the 3 previous people that gave it only 1 star each! This book reflects so much my husband and myself as far as style of decorating; the only difference is the houses in the book are architecturally more interesting than ours. However, I definitely plan to incorporate some of the ideas I got from this book into our home. I appreciate things about this book such as in "Two original offices", the combination of modern furniture with old world wall effects; in "Power to the imagination", the library nook at the top of the stairs which our home has a spot almost identical to & I was wondering what to do with it; strong use of lively colors such as "Making the most of corners" in the use of lavendar & blue around rustic materials. I found this book to be original & endlessly creative. Unfortunately, I don't own the one I used; but I plan to acquire a copy for my own because I know I would refer to it over and over. Congratulations to the authors & photographers on a wonderful collection of inspiring design ideas. As for the minimal verbage, who needs to editorialize when there is so much to take in visually? A picture speaks a thousand words...
Rating: Summary: Poor Dream Review: It's big, it's expensive and it's a quite beautiful hardcover edition but it's a mistake and definitely not worth. What I imagine, and picture, as dream interiors I couldn't find on it. I had a huge dissapointment. It's confuse, badly written and has too many, and too short, chapters. The interiors are mainly composed by small european apartments, full of designed furniture. Boring, the pictures don't help. My dream never came true on those pages too!!
