Rating: Summary: A musician, writer, genius,..and a FOX! Review: I had been an admirer of Glenn Gould's music and essays for a few years when I came across "Portraits of the artist.." at a Tower bookstore in Phili. I had previously read his biography, a book of his letters, and an esoteric but facinating collection essays and was totally intrigued by him (moreso of his words than music). My obession quadrupled however, when out of curiosity I started paging through the photo book (I had never seen an actual picture of him). Sweet Jesus- What a fox! The book covers a summer trip Gould takes with Jock Carroll shortly after the release and mass aprasil of his first Goldberg Variations. So he's about 21, 22, and as delicious as they come - especially one sexy pic of him leaning against a white wall, one long, shapely hand raised & gesturing, his bushy hair toussled in the wind, lips curled in a youthfull and arrogant sneer. Yum! Equally tantalizing shots of him playing piano with his patented orgasmic expressions and gestures and cute posed "contemplating genius" shots of his watching the ocean waves (wearing a wool trenchcoat, gloves & scarf in 100 degree weather). Oh yeah, and who can forget the bed shots, Glen w. shirttail out, hair mussed, languidly sprawled,..hmmm,.. ehem, excuse me. All in all its a beauitfully put together book with a witty diary of the trip by Carroll. A must for any Glenn Gould obsessee, especially one as interested in the man as in his music, and especially a female!
