Summary: not just another pretty art book
Review: ones sees tons of these kinds of books at barnes and chernobyl, borders etc...but this one IS unique...first the reproduction quality (at least my edition) is excelent...the b&w drawings are on a more off-white background. the essay is very centered on the more PRIMAL elements of guaguin's mission. very good analysis of the IDOL (TIKI) and how it replaces GOD for gauguin. perhaps a good model for us all. yes, set up your shrine now in your own way and sweat off the accretions of western theology...now
