Review: While the photos are nice, I would rather have seen more of a focused narrative rather than the scattered glimpses of these people. It is a shame that the photographer fell into the Curtis style of posing people in inauthentic contexts, such as the little boys playing lacrosse in their gustowehs. Teachers using this book are forwarned to read carefully the preface explaining the differences in traditional Iroquoian dress styles and the pow wow dresses or contemporary modern dance costumes shown in this book. It was otherwise fun to see so many people I know. I hope to see more books written by, photographed by, Native Peoples. I would still recommend it, but use it carefully if you are an educator.
