Rating: Summary: A beautiful book Review: Every photo in this beautiful book has broken the one thousand word barrier and given life to its subjects. I've spent hours enjoying this book and the life she had, and I'm still enjoying them all so much that I haven't been able to put them out of my mind. This is the only book I can say is truly a photographic masterpiece. It's a shame she is not around to enjoy her own success. Even though I have never met her, I still kind of miss her already.
Rating: Summary: beautiful images--less great text Review: I received this lovely book as a gift. I immediately fell in love with the images, which were a cross between Sally Mann and photos I (delusionally) imagine that I could take of my community. My only criticism is the text, which is sort of dry and generic compared to the total intimacy of the images. The text is sort of half elegy to this young, tragically-dead, photographer and half the late photog herself in her own words discussing her work. It's not touching or illuminating though, and makes me wonder if she would have wanted snippets like tht running with such robust work, anyway. Still, this is a great gift book--and so inexpensive for a photo book.
