Rating: Summary: Four Corners by Debra Bloomfield Review: A beautiful book. One of only a few books of photographs that I keep going back to and finding new meanings - visually rich and emotionally layered. A new way of looking at a much photographed part of the world
Rating: Summary: Amazing Book Review: All I can say is thank you for these beautiful and spiritual images. I have given this book to many friends and all of them love it.
Rating: Summary: Timeless Southwest Review: Bloomfield's Four Corners is a timeless and sensitive evocation of the American Southwest. Also, an excellent holiday gift.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Landscape Photography Review: Four Corners is a book of magical imagery, spiritual sensibility and insightful storytelling.
Rating: Summary: Poor quality and a pricey fraud Review: Four Corners is the title of this collection of photos by Debra Bloomfield, who refers to herself as a landscape photographer. Four Corners is a well-know region of the country which includes an incredible number of stunning places to memorialize in landscape photos. I was disappointed to discover that 26 of the 67 color plates depicted iconic paintings and objects inside old New Mexican churches--that is almost 40% of the book has nothing to do with landscape, but rather with local culture.
The other great disappointment with the book is the very poor quality of reproduction. With the tools available today, this quality of printing is inexcuseable. The few photos that might have been truly interesting are so dark and muddy that their virtues go virtually unseen.
If you want to see the Four Corners of the title, look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: A Road Trip for The Soul Review: Having spent time in the Southwest, I was so moved by Debra Bloomfield's book on the land and the churches in the Four Corners region. She has captured the soul of this amazing land with her painterly photographs.
Rating: Summary: Great Contribution to Landscape Photography Review: The images in this high quality book represent one of the best contributions to landscape photography since Ansel Adams and have the magic and beauty of Georgia O'Keefe's work when she was a native of New Mexico.
Rating: Summary: Corners of foresight Review: This book sits on our living room table for all to view. Pieces of light, interiors of churches, spirit and spiritual mingle in time's subdued light. As the introduction points out, look at the photographs. Then enter into history, beauty and culture.
