Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A Persian dervish in Oz
Review: One of Australia's greatest living artists, Valamanesh was born in Iran and arrived in Australia in the mid 1970s. Since then he has forged a unique career, all the time maintaining his aesthetic simplicity and poetic vision in his paintings, collages, arte povera sculptures and installations and his land and public art.

This book features some of his best work, with superb colour reproductions. Although small in size, it is dense in content, with Paul Carter's usually incisive and imaginative prose engaging deeply with the artist's cultural position and creative method.

If you can pick up a copy, it is worth getting the Art Gallery of South Australia survey catalogue as well, which features more of his public art works from around the country and the globe and updates his art produced in the interim years.
