Summary: Powerful Adventure in Passions and Conflict
Review: I bought this book from the local Borders bookstore and really enjoyed reading it. It is like a historical play because it is set in a modern day Israel - Palestine, where the conflict is raging. I learned from this book that there are Arabs who are reluctantly serving in the Israeli military to defend the Jewish State. I also learned that love affairs between Jews and Arabs happen in Israel. (The Jewish Agency would probably hat a fit!) I also came to understand deep personal tensions that come to the surface in the midst of conflict. This book is simply a powerful adventure in passions that exist in Israel and Palestine. I thought the author did a fair job of portraying the tensions. I felt the ending was very realistic. Of course, I guess there could have been a happy ending. Who knows, the author may revise the ending as Charles Dickens did with one of his novels as the result of public outcry.

Summary: Simply Moving!
Review: This book is very moving. It is a tear-jerker and makes you think about complexities of love and tragedies of love gone wrong due to circumstances. The power of emotional pull is so great that you have to leave the reading a few times to recollect. Highly recommended!

Summary: Sad but Deeply Moving
Review: This is probably the saddest book I have read this year. I was inspired to read this book after reading a more recent book by the same author. JEWISH BEING captures the social tensions in the Israeli society as the result of the Jewish - Arabic conflict in very insightful ways. I was gripped as I read the dialogues and monologues. I felt I was diving into the characters and their thoughts. This book made me realize how difficult obtaining global peace will be as long as there is the Jewish - Arabic conflict. It was a learning experience to read this book
