Rating: Summary: The writing is blah -- the changes in my life are amazing! Review: The method in this book is amazing (although the writing is not). Since I read it four months ago, my masters thesis was accepted for publication in a world-class scholarly journal, another essay I wrote was published in a book, I found a perfect job literally without trying (I had given up after looking for over a year), my husband (who hasn't read the book, but whom I've been thinking happy thoughts about) also got an incredible new job without any effort, and our family income has more than doubled. We will be completely out of debt in a few months, rather than in years as we thought. My health has improved immensely. I am a lawyer & have a logical mind. I do not like all of the new-age-y pseudo-science about vibrations that she uses in the book, but the practice of making yourself happy & "feeling what you want" works incredibly well. Not only that, I am able to make myself feel happy & good when I want to, not just when things are going well. And I always get the best parking spaces now. I'm not joking. If you had told me last year that I would be where I am now, I wouldn't have believed you. Get this book, plow through the so-so writing, and use the theory. It's like a diamond in a paper bag.
Rating: Summary: Keep your mind on what you want Review: Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting encourages you to keep your heart aligned with what you want and shows you how to let go of what you don't want. I found the author's presentation of this very important aspect of life mastery to be very motivating. I also recommend Optimal Thinking: How To Be Your Best Self for the realistic thinking necessary to be your best, optimize your emotional intelligence and make the most of any situation. 5 Stars well earned!
Rating: Summary: willful suspension of disbelief needed Review: OK, I am decidedly NOT a self-help book kind of person. I don't buy into them, I don't, as a rule, spend my money on them. That being said, this was a really fasinating book. According to Lynn Grabnorn, the reason that most of us are trapped in unhappy, unfufilling lives is because we vibrate negative energy and therefore attract negative energy, much as a tuning fork vibrating at a particular pitch vibrates other similarly pitched tuning forks. So we need to consciously change the vibrations we're sending out in order to attract positive things into our lives.......she uses the example of visualizing yourself driving a shiny red sports car instead of focusing on the fact that you don't have one, because if you focus on the fact that you don't have one, you'll continue to not have one. I don't believe all of her ideas, but I do believe that negativity breeds negativity, so I decided to suspend my disbelief and try her techniques out. According to my extremely unscientific study, it works. I don't have a shiny new sports car, but I have noticed that I have been more productive, happier, and much less worried about money since I started following the steps she describes. Weird.
Rating: Summary: A must read! Review: I literally couldn't put this book down! I just finished my second reading! PLEASE do yourself a favor...if you can't buy this book now, check it out at your local library...you WILL be thrilled that you did!
Rating: Summary: It will change your life Review: This book helped get me out of the rut that most of us live through every day - the daily grind of doing things because we have to, or because it's "realistic," or because of that old phrase: "That's Life." Lynn Grabhorn has reminded me that I make my own choices in life. That I can do or get anything I want if I center my feelings on that thing or idea. Not only has it helped me, but I had a friend who was always down, was couch surfing, and jobless. I said "read this book and you will have an apartement." She started reading it, and the NEXT DAY she had an apartment and a few days later a job. Just read it.
Rating: Summary: read it if you believe in mind over matter Review: this is an amazing book. it turbo charges the concepts of creative visualizations (brilliantly explored by Shakti Gawain) by adding the power of recalled and imagined feelings. the style of writing may take an adjustment, but in the end this stuff works. recommended for the spiritual explorer...
Rating: Summary: The BEST self help book I've ever read Review: This book is awesome. It's empowering, inspiring and motivational. This is a book I think every person should read. Grabhorn's style of writing is personable and so easy to read and understand. I love this book so much that I've hugged it!
Rating: Summary: best self-help book I've ever read Review: I've read dozens of self-help books, and this is the best of the bunch. Why? Because it's so simple! As Wittgenstein said, "If this were philosophy, you could know it by heart." I.e., the things truly worth knowing strike you like lightning, and are engraved upon your heart -- and you don't need a notebook and file cards and Post-It notes all over your house (the way you do for so many self-help systems). She writes very clearly about a bold, completely revolutionary change that you can learn by heart and do a little bit better every day. This is one self-help system you can apply instantly and that truly works. Even if you've been disappointed by other self-help books in the past, try this one -- you'll never need another one!
Rating: Summary: Good Motivational Fuel Review: I am pleased to see that there are now many good reviews coming forth on this book at Amazon.com. When I first starting reading it and had looked at the reviews it was discouraging and I almost regretted my purchase. This morning I finished "Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting", and as soon as I did I knew I needed to write a review and share my feelings. I found Lynn's writing style to be animated, enthusiastic, practical, and very much to the point. She presents strategies that you can begin using immediately and they work! Even if you don't agree with every point she makes, I think you will come away with something quite powerful and useful in the end. I was glad I picked up this book and I think you will be too.
Rating: Summary: My valves are opening!! Review: I am thoroughly amazed at MY ability to grasp the concept in this book. That says alot! I have read ALOT of self-help books, and ho-hummed on to the next, but this one was gripping! AND it works!! I started implementing the 'buzz' before I finished the book, and began noticing events changing-even if only slightly! She is good at explaining things, so it's easy to comprehend (although I had to read a few paragraphs several times until I 'got' it). I can't wait to read the second and third trilogy of her books-and get the playbook! For those who decided the law of attraction couldn't at all be possible, there valves are not only closed, there bolted shut! But that's okay! I will not allow the negative vibrations of those reviews to harm my immense belief in this amazing concept! Hat's off to you, Lynn!
