Rating: Summary: Hmmm... a pretty good book Review: The first two thirds of this book were great. I enjoyed the way that Ender would show his emotions and everything that he was feeling. Unfortunately, the ending was a little weak. One minute, they are just students training, and then all of a sudden, they save the world. It is almost as if the book needed to be longer to tell the story more completely. Oh well.
Rating: Summary: Best SF novel in 20 years Review: "Ender's Game" is a masterpiece of SF, one of those definitive novels of a genre, so powerful that everything that comes after it is measured by it's greatness. Of all of the novels I've read in the last year or so, only "The Triumph and the Glory" and perhaps "Cold Mountain" come close to providing such a powerful emotional reaction in me.
Rating: Summary: This is the best sci-fi book I've ever read. Review: This book is one of my all-time favorites. I first read it in eighth grade on a recommendation by my english teacher. I figured, "Oh yeah, this will be good." I was wrong. "Ender's Game" grabbed my attention from the beginning and hurdled me through to the very end. I loved it. Orson Scott Card's description and detail of his world of the future was always riveting and left me spellbound when I finally finished the book. Andrew "Ender" Wiggin is a very likable character that keeps the story flowing. And he is one tough kid. This book has a great fight sequence that puts Alfred Hitchcock's shower scene to shame. Zero gravity battles in an enclosed dome, space rides at close to light speed, and instant message transmission across the galaxy are just some of the things we experience while we're reading this masterpiece of science fiction literature. The screenplay and film are under negotiation to be made now. I, for one, can't wait.
Rating: Summary: Both compelling & repelling Review: This story pushed me a little too far. The main character's life was so harsh that it was difficult to read about. Val was a good likeable character though. If you get your kicks from reading about children being tortured than enjoy. BTW I searched & didn't find a review saying "I hate this book cause it is written by a Mormon". So I don't know what that one guy was talking about.
Rating: Summary: A must read for all Sci-Fi fans. Review: This book is excellent. It is a very well written book that has deserved every little drop of praise it has recieved. Even if you do not like Sci-Fi books you will more than likely love this one, because it is more of a mind twister than a sci-fi book. But the way it is written will satisfy both sci0fi fan and non-sci-fi fan. I highly recomend it.PS - You can disregard anyone who says there are relegious subtext to it. I am Mormon and this has to be one of the few books that Card has written that has no relegious subtext.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: There's not much to say about Ender's Game. I can sum it all up in one sentence. It is the greatest book ever written.
Rating: Summary: THE science fiction book of the century! Review: This is possibly the most wonderful book in the world of science fiction today. I really don't have much to add to the other reviews, other than to say that I thought the sequels were at least as good as the original. The entire series is worthy of being read and reread, but even if you don't want to read them all, Ender's Game is one you don't want to miss.
Rating: Summary: "Ender's game" is one of the best books I have ever read. Review: Ender's game is a book about the invasion of allien forces to earth it is a book that describes the adventures of Ender the child who saves the world from these allien forces. This is one of the best if not the best book I have ever read. It has emotions and actions combined together in a great way. I suggest any one who want to read a great book and have a great time to read "Ender's game".
Rating: Summary: Ender's Game Quartet Review: This is a series of the best books is by far the best I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Even after finishing the novels in this four book series I find myself wishing it would continue into a fifth and sixth. If anyone was ever worthy of the Huge/Nebula awards it would be Orson Scott Card.
Rating: Summary: Excellant Reading Review: I picked this book up off the shelf about a year ago, and it sat on my desk for a few months before I got around to it. When I finally read it, I was mad at myself for not having dropped the other book I had been reading and read Ender's Game. It was awesome. It really makes you think. Also, I would have to agree with most people when they say that Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide are rather boring. But the fourth book, Children of the Mind, was, albeit farfetched, but pretty good. (After all, isn't sci-fi 'supposed' to be farfetched?) _Also, I took about 30 minutes to skim the other 700 reviews prior to writing this one, and I'd like to say something about some of those reviews. I can understand a lot of those middle schoolers not liking Ender's Game when they are forced to read it. That's understandable. But what I do not understand is why several people have ditched this book on relatively no basis at all. In their comments, their primary explanation for not liking this book was because it was written by a MORMON!! Geez! That's got to be the crappiest excuse on the planet. "Hey guys, don't read that book cause it was written by a Catholic!! And we don't agree with their ideas and beliefs!!" Do you see my point? There is obviously some falacy going on here. It's like saying: "Bob it tall. Bob is dumb. All tall people are dumb." Several other reviewers have warned us to "Watch out for the Mormon subtext!" and "You've got to look veeeerry close to see it!" It sounds like sombody's 'really' paranoid. I would also like to point out the fact that none of these reviewers found it convenient to also post their name, city, state, email address, or any other information for future communication with anyone whom should by chance come across their reviews. Finally, some of the reviewers stated that Mormons would not like Ender's Game. I have many Mormon friends, and I have let them all borrow Ender's Game, they have all read it, and they thought that it was great. None of us noticed any of this "Mormon subtext" or any "propaganda ploys". What WE saw was a fantastic novel that really made you think about "what it.." and also left you wishing that you could have been Ender in the book. I hope I didn't bore anyone too much, and I realize that this is not a news group or anything of the sort, but I felt the topic needed addressing. If anyone would like to attack me or anything, I, unlike numerous aforementioned people, am posting my name and email address. Seeya'll
