Summary: Finally, a book where you can't predict the ending!
Review: This book came highly recommended by several friends so after searching high and low for all four in the series, I dove into the first one head first. I was not disappointed. And the ending was completely unexpected. What's interesting with this novel, it would appeal to a non sci-fi fan as much as to a die hard sci-fi fan. The basis of the story is a study in human psychology more than anything else. Am looking forward to the remainder of the series.

Summary: Wow! What a read.
Review: This is a very compelling book about a young boy who deals with his inner demons to serve other's purposes. This all happens in a Sci-Fi setting. Although most would argue that this book reside in the true Sci-Fi genre, I strongly disagree.I truly enjoyed this book and everyone in it's series. I read these books about 3 years ago but I remember Ender's Game being the most entertaining.

Review: Ender's Game is one of the most popular science fiction books of all time. Had it received enough media attention (or were it written today), it would have almost certainly garnered as much (or more!) hype as Harry Potter. Don't make the mistak, though! Ender's Game is not a children's book, despite the fact that most of its characters are children - the deeply questionable ethical discussions, the overall message and trimmings of the book may confuse children, or simply pass over their heads. An unprepared Earth has been target of a sudden, devastating attack by the mysterious alien Buggers, and to prevent it from happening twice, the command of Earth has been seized by the military. Thus, Earth is unified - for now. The military is examining and collecting especially bright children for advanced military training for important military positions. The training takes place at the top-secret Battle School - an enourmous orbiting complex. But Andrew Wiggin - Ender - is special. For some reason, the teachers single him out. He is grouped with inept platoons for the mock battles. Teachers try to goad him into falling over the brink, breaking down his moral values, his sense of pity and commiseration. In other words, they are making him into a perfect weapon - Earth's only hope for the final battle against its alien invaders. Why is Ender's Game so successful? Because Card created one of the most appealing central characters the world has ever seen: Ender is young (don't you want to re-experience childhood?), he is amazingly intelligent (don't you think of yourself as intelligent?), and the entire world is out to get him (self-explanatory). Never mind that the convoluted train-of-thought passages are often discussions of complex ethical dilemmas, and that the answers that Card achieves may surprise or shock you. Never mind the appaling lack of imagery, the low number of well-developed characters, cliche aliens, and some very questionable scientific premises. Ender's Game is all about your ability to associate with Ender. By the book's end you will be ready to die for him if needs be. The chapters increase the pace, bit by bit. The epilogue is truly stunning. It sets you up with royal hopes for the remainder of the books in the series. Alas, that path is strewn with disappointments :(

Summary: Ender's Game
Review: If you have not read this book get out there and read it! It is more than a story about a terrible war. It is the growth of and incredible character and how he is shaped into humanitiy's tool. And, in doing this discovers himself, both the good and the bad. Ender is one of the best characters in literature. It is an incredible read written eloquently by Mr. Card. I reccomend this to everyone.

Summary: Spell-binding work of a master!
Review: I don't normally read science fiction, but Orson Scott Card is a master. Even people who don't appreciate science fiction as a rule (like me), are thrilled with this one. It's a sci-fi classic that has won numerous awards. Although the setting is science fiction, the science fiction elements are more a backdrop for Card's exploration of the human condition. A suspenseful plot about kids and computer games, with an ironic twist at the end completes the package that has spellbound thousands of readers. Contemporary fiction doesn't get much better than this. Highly recommended!

Summary: 5 star material - for its audience
Review: This book seems to draw young readers along like a spaceborne Harry Potter. Judging by the glowing reviews this is the best book these readers have come across in a long time. OSC has a great track record and has interesting views on sci-fi such as his thoughts on how religion can coexist with science fiction. That's beside the point here; this is a fine tale about a child growing up under the weight of leadership duties and decision making. OSC shows people and their problems are still the crux of future story telling and the future is not exclusively devoted to spaceships and aliens. The spare detail fit well, except in a few instances, and the main character's inner tormoils were apt. I was not riveted to the story as much as most readers (too far removed from adolescence, I suppose, and the idea of six year olds doing this is a stretch no matter how hopped their DNA is) though if I were their age I likely would have been. As for those who call this "the best book ever," keep reading - you'll find other stories just as good as this one.

Summary: A book that draws you in and won't let go!
Review: This is one of the most powerful and riveting books I have ever come across. If you enjoy sci-fi, fantasy, fiction, mystery, or dramatic readings, then you will enjoy this book. Card employs so many different techniques and his book touches on so many levels it truly is amazing more people have not read it. Don't be put off by it's sci-fi nature. The book is so much more. While this book cvertainly is an excellent way to encourage children to pick up reading, they will be highly disapointed with the sequels to this book. This is the first of a series that goes into a deeper sense of moral dilemma and can only really begun to be appreciated by a young adult reader. However, if you are just looking for ane xciting sci-fi futuristic read involving real-world video games, then this is the book for you. If you are looking for a powerful series depicting the powerful feelings that any person has to deal with in this cold and cruel world and the choices that we make, and how they may seem good at 1 time may seem evil and unecessary at another time, then this is the series for you.

Summary: Ender is magnificent
Review: Here's the deal with Ender's Game: it's the best novel I've ever read. There are probably some out there with more literary prowess, or more depth of characters and plot, but for the total picture, and a book that you really can sit down and read the whole thing in one sitting, Ender's Game tops them all. I read it for this first time when I was about 12 - not unlike thousands of others. Since then - I'm now 25 - I've reread it every few years, and each time the story means something more, and different to me. As with all other Card stories (I've read them all), this really tells a story about the human condition (although perhaps not quite as much as the later books in the 'series'). This one happens to be wrapped around and through a really fun story about a Fantasy game and a Battle room. As one grows and experiences life, there is more to take away from this novel. I guess I'll have to see if the pattern holds true as I continue to get older and, hopefully, wiser.

Summary: A worthy beginner to a stunning series
Review: I picked up Ender's Game on impulse because I'd heard so many gret things about the book. I was hooked from page one and barely put it down until I was finished. The plot is a creative one, and extremely well written. Ender is an interesting character, as are his siblings, Peter and Valentine. They are all deep, and easy to sympathize with. (Peter took some warming up to, as others can verify, but in the end, all I could feel was pity for him.) The ending left me hanging, and I raced to find the others. (If you want to know how I felt about those, you'll just have to go to their review sections.) All in all, a wonderful book. Read it soon!

Summary: An awesome book!
Review: Ender's Game is an awesome start to an incredible series of books! If you don't think you like sci fi books, don't let that stop you from reading Ender's Game. It's unlike any other sci fi book out there. The storyline grabs you and keeps you hooked, but the best thing about this book is the characters! You really get to know them and become engrossed in their lives, then you can't wait to read the other books in the series to find out what happens next. I've read these books several times and I always enjoy them. Check out Card's other books, too. They are all great! Also, keep an eye out for the upcoming Ender's Game movie!
