Summary: Book Review
Review: Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, by Mildred D. Taylor, is a book about the struggles and hardships of a black family in the 1930s. In this story, the Logan family has a number of conflicts with the white people in their community. Stacey is the oldest brother of the four Logan children. Cassie, the second oldest and only daughter, is the narrator of the story. Christopher John is the second oldest brother and Little Man is the youngest. Stacey was TJ's best friend and together they had many adventures that often ended in trouble. Throughout this book, I feel that I grew with Stacey. Stacey is my favorite character because of his ability to understand. He learned a lot about how to deal with life in a prejudice community.
I related to Stacey the most. Stacey was a true friend to TJ, and I like to think of myself as a true friend as well. Although TJ got Stacey into trouble throughout the book and hurt him, Stacey was always there for him whenever he was in serious trouble or needed help. I have friends that have hurt me a lot and whenever they needed a place to stay, my door was always open. I am a warm-hearted person much like Stacey.
This book was definitely a "page turner" and I enjoyed it a lot. My favorite part of the book was when Mama sat Cassie down and explained to her why white people treated them the way they did. Mama told Cassie that white people were not any better then her and that they just didn't know any better. It was my favorite part because throughout the book Cassie didn't understand why white people were so rude to her until her talk with Mama.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about life struggles and how other people got through them. This book was easy to follow and was honestly the first book I have ever read all the way through. This book captured my attention after the first few pages, and I am almost positive that it would capture anyone else's

Summary: A book review for my 4th grade assignment ...
Review: Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor is about the civil rights of African Americans in the 1930's. Cassie Logan, a 9-year-old African American girl, tells the story. The main characters the children in the Logan family, Stacey, Christopher-Johan, Cassie, and Little Man. The Logans live in Spokane County, Mississippi and own 400 acres of land.

In this book two of the Logan children don't like the chart on the inside of their "new" books. The chart is disrespectful by calling the children "nigras" and shows that the book was given to the African American children to use when the book was in very poor condition. The children's ma, a teacher in their school, understands their objection. She covers the chart by gluing a piece of paper over it. Ma did not put up with the disrespect and taught her children that they didn't have to either. The book continues putting the Logan family in situations unfair to African Americans and shows how the Logan family triumphs.

I recommend this book to other people because it is full of problems and excitement. I liked reading about the Logan's solutions to their problems. When I read this book, it started off slow, but got very good towards the middle of the book. If you are bored at the beginning, don't stop reading or you will miss out on a good book!

Summary: Sensational
Review: This book was truly amazing. I had been skating around the idea of reading it for years, and when I finally bought the book, I found one of the best stories I had ever read. Mildred D. Taylor writes with excellent character development and wrote an excellent plot. She also adds to the book a sense of realism so well that one might assume the book to be autobiographical. This book is a must-read for any teenager who enjoys a good, entertaining story. This book has quickly become one of my favourites, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Summary: Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry ~Book Review
Review: Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry is about the Logan's- a black family trying to overcome racial segregation in Mississippi. It's a very racial time and the local storeowners would do anything to sabotage a black family. The Logan's try to protect their land in the midst of all this racial segregation.
The Logan's only daughter, Cassie, is a strong, independent character that wants to protect her family and their land. She doesn't quite understand the racial part of growing up I the south yet, though. But when she witnesses one of her own 'friends' get caught up in it, she realizes there's more to being black than appears. Little Man, the youngest Logan, is very careful and tries to keep everything about him clean. He is very well behaved. Christopher-John is a normal 7-year-old growing up.
The Logan's try to protect their rights-with help from a lawyer. Help also comes from Mr. Morrison. He is a strong man who helps protect the family while papa is away on the railroad. He earns the trust of Stacy, Cassie's brother. He tells them stories of when he was kid-stories of nightriders and of blacks. Mama and papa feel it is good to have their children know about these kinds of things, because they could very well happen to the Logan's. There was a burning in the beginning of the book. It foreshadows the coming events-possibly another burning or some other event, most likely by whites.
The whites in this story that cause problems are the Wallace's and the Simmses. The Wallace's are bad role models for the blacks (and some of the whites) in the story. The whites seem to have free reign while the blacks are kept away and watched very closely. One wrong move could send them to death.
One incident in the book where blacks are treated unfairly is when the Logan's are forced to climb into a muddy trench in order to get out of harm's way- the white children's school bus. The black children have to walk to school everyday while the whites ride the bus.
This story is very realistic and I think that everyone should have a chance to read it as it shows what true life was like for African Americans and racial segregation in the 1930s. The book can be boring at times but it is certainly worth it to discover the world of Logan's-their pain, hardships, and their overall life as a black family. It is a very educational book and I think it is worth the while to read Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry.

Review: Imagine if you were wrongly treated discriminated against, socialy unequal, poor and you don't understand why. Cassie a black 11yr old souther girl from Mississippi is finding out why she can't associate with white people. Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry is a very historicaly acurate novel but is not a tad bit boring. Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry will keep you guessing until the very end and then still amazed at waht has happened in this quality book.

If you're like me then you want plenty of action in yuor books. This book wont upset you.

I give this book 4 stars due to the thick plot and acurate subject and it's action packed and has a varitey of characters.
