Review: I THINK HATCHET WAS AN AWESOME MOVIE BECAUSE IT TELLS YOU ABOUT A BOY WHO IS TRAPPED IN THE WILDERNESS WITH ONLY BAD THOUGHTS AND A HATCHET.I THINK IT'S VERY EXCITING AND IT HAS GREAT DISCRIPTIONS AND IF I WERE YOU I WOULD READ IT BECAUSE YOU'LL DEFENITELY LIKE IT!

Summary: A hero at heart!!
Review: This book is about a boy who goes to his father's house in Canada. His mother gives him a hatchet while he is waiting for his airplane at the airport. When he is on the plane the pilot lets him fly the it. About an hour or two later the pilot had a heart attack. Brian had to take control of the plane and find a safe place to land. His attempt falls short and he is not able to find a safe place to land with the fuel he has. He decides to find a beach and attempt to land it there. He doesn't know that this decision will change his life forever. While he is on this island he has to take his knowledge and survive off of it. He most learn to find food for himself and make fire with what little he has. He makes a shelter under a rock. While he is sleeping he worries about animals coming into his hut, one night his worst dream came true, a porcupine came in and put his quills into his leg. While he is trying to get him out of his hut he frantically throws his hatchet at it to get it out his hatchet missed and ithit the rock it shot a bunch of sparks out thats how he learned to make fire. The ending left you with a since of relief and it made you want to find out what happened to him after he got off the island.

Review: This is a good book to read. In the beginning the boy named Brian Robeson is flying in a plane to see his dad in Canada. His parents are divorced. On the way to Canada the pilot has a heart attack and the plane crashes in water. Luckily Brian is alive! He swims to the shore to safety. He builds himself a
lean-to shelter. He stays in the shelter until a bear comes and knocks it down. He lives under a rock until a plane comes and rescues him. He eats some turtle eggs and builds himself a fire. If you are reading this and you have not read the book Hatchet, I suggest you read it.

Summary: Re-Visiting My Past
Review: I remember reading this book in 8th grade, around 15 years ago. It was the first book that I can remember "not being able to put down." Written with passion and insight, you become enveloped in the story and I highly recommend this novel for children and adults alike. I am looking foward to reading the book once again - a real treat!

Summary: A Terrible Plane Crash Leaves Brian Alone...
Review: Brian, a 13-year-old boy, is sent to live with his father in the Canidian wilderness. The pilot of the brushplane that he is flying in suffers a heart attack and dies. Left to fly the plane alone, Brian crash lands the plane into a lake somewhere in the wilderness. Brian has to learn survival skills to stay alive. Many challenges come his way like being run over by a moose and breaking a few ribs, a tornado ruining his camp and loosing most of his supplies and even getting sick from the berries he finds near the camp. Finially, Brian learns that the tail end of the plane is still sticking out of the water in the lake. He swims to the plane, cuts a hole in the tail and grabs the survival pack from the inside. After getting back to the camp he looks through the bag and finds a radio transmitter. Thinking it doesn't work, he puts it aside, not knowing that he left it on. A plane finds him and saves him, and he is taken back to his home.
This book shows many virtues like responsibility. It has many survival skills for the wilderness and for every day life. I think more people should read this book. If you like adventure and suspence you should definately read it. I really liked it and I think you will too.

Summary: The Story of a Heroic Kid
Review: _Hatchet_ tells the story of Brian Robeson, a boy who must work to stay alive after his plane crashes in the wilderness leaving him the only survivor.

Used to having things without producing them himself, Brian learns very quickly that everything he needs to survive--from the food he eats to a fire with which to cook it and a shelter to sleep in at night--depends, without exception, on how well he can use his mind to work with all the different aspects of his environment.

For instance, Brian must learn what berries are good or bad to eat--and what the best way to catch a fish or a bird is. He must learn through a painful process of trial-and-error what an appropriate shelter consists of and how it must be constructed (to shield himself from both animals, who might eat his food or harm him personally, and the elements of rain or even tornadoes, which might make life in the wilderness impossible).

Watching how Brian deals with all of these problems--and many more--was an exciting part of the book for me. And, since it's written in Brian's own words (i.e., from his point-of-view), it felt as though I was there in the wilderness with him and that I too must think to survive.

Doing so made the book an exhilerating read and I'm very glad I read it--not just because it was entertaining, but because it dramatized something that is sometimes too easy to forget: that everything keeping me alive, or adding to the enjoyment of my life, comes from a single attribute of man, his reasoning mind. Because of all this, I'm giving the book five stars, which means I highly recommend it to adults and children alike (even though it's written primarily for a younger audience).

Review: Hatchet is about a 13 year old boy named Brain. Brain's parents are divorced. Brain lives with his mom, one winter he went to see his dad. He lives in Canada so he had to fly over. Before he left,his mom gave him a hatchet because he was getting to be a young man.Then he was flying over and the pilot had a heart attack and died. Brain did't know how to fly so he went down into a lake.He survived by living in the woods. Then he made a radio and they found him. Hatchet is a great book for readers of all ages. More people should read this book.

Review: There is a thirteen year old boy named Brian, who's parents got divorced. He left on an single engine plane to go to see his dad for the first time since the divorce. They where flying over the wilderness of Canada. Then the pilot had a heart attack. Brian didn't know how to fly an airplane,but not to long before that he was told about the food in the back of the plane. After the pilot had is heart attack Brian tried the microphone, but it didn't get through. When the plane went down he landed in the water. He was in the wilderness for fifty-four days.

If you like wilderness books you'll love this book. This book is a journey you don't want to stop reading.

want to. Some how he seems to keep himself out of trouble.
In the meantime he tries to find a way to get home. I think
this is a great book to read. If you read this review I hope
you became more interested. You should read this book to see
how it ends!

Summary: I need shelter
Review: January 9,2002 I recomend this book because Gary Paulsen makes very exciting surival tales. Anyone who likes the outdoors or woods should like this book and other survival tales by Gary Paulsen. This book is great for kids second grade and up. It's even good for adults. I think Gary Paulsen is an awesome writer. After the plane that Brian was riding crashed into the "L" shaped lake, I had to read more. This book is one of the best books I've ever read!
