Summary: Adventursome, suspensful, exciting, and moving.
Review: I found Where the Red Fern Grows, a remarkable story of a boy's dream of owning and training Blood hounds. The way he earned the money and things he went through to get his dogs, teach the importance of hard work and determination. He not only gets his two dogs, he trains them into the best hunting team in the region. They are the talk of the town after they win the coveted "gold cup" in the annual coon hunt. The most intriguing and gripping part of the story comes at the very end, when Billy finds a red bush growing on his dog's graves. He almost cuts it down and then remembers the legend of the sacred red fern. He remembers how only angels can plant them, and that they never die. This reassures Billy that his dogs are alright and it gives him strength to carry on. A delightful book for all ages.

Summary: Where the Red Fern Grows by Elisa Hartwig, age 12
Review: This novel is about the life of a boy growing up in the Ozarks who is struck with dog-love. His perserverance brings him two red-blood hounds, Old Dan and Little Ann, and many adventures. I loved this book! Any of you who love tear-jerkers, this is your book. I cried all three times I read it. I give it four stars!
