  Summary: I expected more.
Review: All in all it wasn't really that bad, just really hard to get in to. I felt lost a lot of the time, and took a long time to read it. This book is definatly not a "sunday read."

  Summary: How Lovely
Review: Ok, I really really enjoyed this book. I laughed and cried, it was a good thing. It gave me a look on after life that I really never thought of before. go read it.

  Summary: wannabe classic
Review: This is just a mediocre crime novel masquerading as high literature. If you like this genre, go for established crime writers - at least they write well researched books with interesting plots. The prose is patronizing, the characters are shallow, the big bang of the beginning is an inaudible invisible whimper by page 20. The lack of research may not be obvious to an American reader, but as an Indian let me assure you that no Indian can have a name like Ray Singh (they are both last names) or Ruana Singh. I cannot believe I wasted my time reading this through to the end...with all the hype about it I felt I had to!

  Summary: WOW
Review: This book, without a doubt, is the best book I have ever read. It's so inspriational and emotional. It's about a girl who was murdered who tells her story and watches her family grieve.I particulary like how she tells the story from heaven. I was in tears for most of the book. I loved it. The only part that wasnt great was the ending. But still, no ones perfect.

  Summary: Can't Shake it
Review: I read "The Lovely Bones" seven months ago and each time I see someone carrying it, the story comes back to me. I simply can't shake the images and as a result, I must label this some very "powerful writing." Having experienced the death of loved ones (family members) this story and the young, murdered girl's take on heaven, allowed me to believe that my deceased relatives were still with me, and somehow taking care of my family and me. I loved this book.

Summary: I've passed it along to everyone I know!
Review: Although very upsetting, this book is so artfully plotted and uses such a unique point of view. I've passed it along to my dad, my brother, and my therapist to read!

Summary: This book had me to tears at many points....
Review: I couldn't put the book down. It has a great description of what heaven might be like. I liked the detail description of what it would be like to look down on our loved ones life after we are gone. I won't give away how she ended up in heaven..but I will tell you it is sad..I highly recommend this book.

  Summary: Don't Trust Hype
Review: As a bookstore employee, I heard much hype about this book from customers purchasing it (who, ironically were talking up a book they had yet to read). I decided to give it a shot as it sounded as though it had an interesting premise.
The beginning of this book was alright, good enough for me to be interested. The rest however, is mediocre at best. It did not seem to me to be very well-written, at times I thought it would be best as "Teen Fiction" rather than a book meant for adults. The characters were developed very little and at the end I was left feeling dissappointed. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a "Grown-Up" book. It is not worth all the hype it has received.

  Summary: Too Much Hype
Review: I was very eager to read 'The Lovely Bones' after hearing the critics label it a modern-classic. As another victim of hype, I was letdown. The angle of this book is its biggest redeeming quality. The narrator in the novel tells her story from heaven. The writing, not the most poetic, is good. And I was never, ever bored with the book--the pacing's good. But aside from the father, there really never was a character I truly cared about. A decent read, but nowhere near the area of modern-classic.

  Summary: A Heartbreaking Work
Review: I found this book incredibly touching; it truly broke my heart. Alice Sebold's writing, even while describing horrific events, is haunting and lyrical. I identified and empathized with every character and felt like I was leaving friends when I finished the novel. I look forward to reading many more works by this gifted author.
